I am not sold on Necas. Apparently he was sheltered a lot with offensive zone starts and his point total regressed a lot this year. I just don't see the value in the high asking price it will take to get him plus the salary.

To repeat, I'm completely against acquiring him, for the points made above and for the fact Dundon is involved.

One day soon, you will see my great wisdom and circle back to...Farabee, Foester and Frost.
We acquire all three and we are either walking to the promised land or...F three times over.

I like Farabee and Foerster, not sold on Frost, but none of the 2 are top 3 forwards. Top 6 yes.

I agree on Frost. He is fine, sort of a good skating version of Dvorak. But for me he is not a top six forward on a competitive NHL team. Foerster looks quite promising, no way Briere has a lot of time for GMs calling about that kid.
I like Farabee's speed and skill. Plus, it is commendable that he plays a brave brand of hockey considering physically he does not possess the most robust frame. But the guy is almost 350 games into his NHL career and yes he reached career highs (22 goals/50 points) in 2023-24. I have no problem with his contract. It seems fair. I just wonder how much additional upside is untapped. The Flyers should want to keep him and see if he can find another gear, right?

Of those 3 Necas interests me thd most. The one article I did find about this rumor suggested the asking price is Xhekaj. I'm not liking what I am reading about Zegras' lack of committment to a two way game & his upcoming contract negotiations give me pause. As for Laine- he has 2 years left on a deal that pays him more than 8 million per year & he is in the player assistance program right now. And this is the 2nd time he has asked for a move. Too many red flags. Xhekaj is not going anywhere....they love him. I didn't get a whole lot of info, he was heading to the Oiler game so we only chatted a few minutes, he did text me a cool pic he took at the game. I'll probably be texting or chatting with him this weekend. They do have interest in Laine though. They seem willing to take a chance if the deal is right. They are also looking at getting rid of Prices contract, apparently they have been contacted by a team looking to add payroll, so that will free up 10 million. Next time we chat I will update everyone. He knows I post stuff here and is good with it. Price becomes more attractive to teams on Jul 2, 2024 July 1, 2024 the Habs will pay Price $5.5 million in signing bonus money Then he will have only $9.5 million remaining to be paid 2 million 2024-25 salary 5.5 million July 1 , 2025 signing bonus money 2 million 2025-26 salary But his cap hit will be $10.5 million for both years

Not saying it can't happen but there are only 11 teams under the floor at this moment and in reality only maybe 4 that would even consider it: Chicago, Anaheim, San Jose and Utah. I do believe Utah is going to be aggressive in free agency and Chicago will want to get some help around Bedard. So that leaves it to 2. But with Hughes, you can never say never.
