Well, unless the Caps are planning to keep it in its current form and make it subscription only for the public, then I do not see how it is a revenue stream for them. I tend to think they simply wanted the brains who owned the site because those two guys are analytics gurus who produce a lot of info the public is not really consuming on their excellent website.
I guess, for now at least, puckpedia will be the next best option.

That's a shame. I loved capfriendly, and accessed it probably 100 times a year. I'm definitely going to check out puckpedia.

Why the NHL never made a pitch for this site, I'll never know ... they could have bought it, renamed it, and maintained it with minimal staff ... there are stretches where I'd use the site daily ... here is some more info on the situation ... Cheers.
