My brother in law just texted saying he desperately wanted the Leafs to get Hage. Tell him not to worry. The guys on TSN Overdrive were talking about the possibility of the Leafs reacquiring Kadri. Aren't they going to extend Giordano?

Lol, at $7 AAV for his mid to late 30s years. That sounds like a curious plan.

Letourneau is going need like 4 years to be NHL ready. He is a giant but he is somewhat skinny, awkward in terms of arriving late on plays against non-high school kids. I like the bet projection-wise, but there is nothing about him that screams this kid can play sooner than 2027-28.

Ouch, I had not even thought of McCarron. My sense is that Letourneau, the big boy prep player in Massachusetts, is not even desperate/belligerent enough to want to play that kind of role in the league.

I was so glad when the Habs skipped on him at 21. A bunch of twitter scouts starting linking him after that trade. Glad they went sped, skill and a kid that has big drive.

So far, it wasn't my "please Hockey Gods" night, but close enough.
I think that Demigod will be on the roster in 2 seasons and I think that he's going to be a 30-30 winger that fills our top 6. Will he be Kucherov V2? I have no idea...

Rangers wasn't a great pick and the Leafs probably shoukd of traded down again and gotten another 2nd or 3rd pick for next year.

This is just a run on same sort of tier mostly no name type prospects through most of the second round.

This is just a run on same sort of tier mostly no name type prospects through most of the second round. Yup, even the sportsnet talking heads were mentionning how the various players being picked had limited upsides and were likely going to be role players rather than stars. I still can't believe Edmonton, without a GM, moved a future first to get the very last pick in the first round. The future GM might not be thrilled at having both his future 1sts be locked out (one traded away, the other untradable until the trade is completed).

The future GM might not be thrilled at having both his future 1sts be locked out (one traded away, the other untradable until the trade is completed). I wondered why they would trade for a 31 pick for one that can hardly be worse. If they run into any kind of bad luck, it's a 20-24 pick. But then I wondered if the quality of next year's draft after the first half, say, may not be as deep as this one (because of all the dmen). It could well be that the Oilers consider the guy they picked at 31 this year could be better than a 24 pick next year. Without having a better handle on the depth of the 2025 draft, I can't say. I understand Hagens is a hot commodity, but maybe it falls off sooner than in this draft. Having said all that, from what I saw of Sam O'Reilly in the Mem Cup, I quite liked. He's a good pick, especially at 31 or 32 or wherever that was.

Fearless predictions: If Aatos Koivu is still on the table at #70, Montreal picks him.
At least one of the 5th or 7th picks will be traded for a similar pick in 2025 or 2026.

I bet Vegas picks Connelly. Wow good call! I was reading an ESPN bio on Connelly in which they quoted an unnamed head scout. He described Connelly this way - top ten talent, bottom ten character, don't do it!. Pretty damning but Vegas does it anyway,

I have a few targets for the third round picks: Poirier, Koivu, Carter George (if there is not a goalie run in round 2), Muggli, one of the Swedish forwards available, Wetsch, L Marrelli, Miettenen (if he drops a bit), Blais (although they might be able to get him at 102). I expect the Bobrov/Lapointe combo will pick a few names that are a bit off the radar screen, as they tend to do, perhaps with an overager or two even. As for picks, 8 more is too many bodies. They have 12 in 2025, so if they swap up picks for a later draft, maybe go 2026 instead. They can also bundle a few to move up if “their guy” is still available like they did with 26/57/198 to get 21. Anyway, I expect Hughes will make some minor moves for sure.

I would like to see a 3+5+7 for a second rounder kind of deal today.
Would also like to see some bodies shipped out of montreal so we don't lose to waivers ex: Barron.

In his interview, Demoted doc mentioned that he only has a US visa, not a Canadian one, so he will miss next week’s development camp. Too bad, as the hoopla over this kid would have been nuts. It will be pretty decent for Hage though due to his Mtl connections.

It will be pretty decent for Hage though due to his Mtl connections. “I am ready,” Demidov said when asked if he is ready to be the game-breaking talent the Habs have been missing. “Kobe Bryant is my idol in sports. I try to take his Mamba Mentality. It’s the first word I learned… killer instinct.”
