I don't watch much basketball but I thought this was notable. Boston passed the Lakers as the winningest team in NBA history last night. You know the NHL season is long when the NBA is over. This is the 13th title for Boston teams in this century. I can't think of a city that matches that. what a great place to be a fan. I was thinking of the Oilers. After the blowout win everyone is on the comeback bandwagon. Well, the Mavericks won game 4 by 38 points and Boston came back last night & won by 18. Great teams don't take those blowouts too hard and just get down to business. www.cbc.ca/sports/basketball/nba/nba-finals-recap-celtics-mavericks-game-5-june-17-1.7237782

I truely believe the NHL was setting its finals schedule to be on days the NBA wasn't playing. That's why we have these 2 day breaks whenever they change cities. It should be every second game at most.
The reason why it is harder for teams to do back to back is because some teams have had over 2 months off of extra rest than those in the cup final.
A funny side note I saw this week. Toronto has never won 3 consecutive playoff rounds, so not sure how they will win the required 4 it takes. The 67 cup win was only 2 rounds.

I had not thought about the conflict with the NBA finals. You're probably right about that.

I had not thought about the conflict with the NBA finals. You're probably right about that. It's always about the US market. It's also why some pacific games were on so late. They didn't want to overlap with Eastern time games earlier on in the playoffs and why there is such a gap between some games and series.

And probably why the games start at 8PM. After almost s full season of games starting at 7, I find the later start annoying.
