Might as well start a new season thread with the announcement of half a dozen minor pro deals that will provide some reinforcements next season.

Novak was great with the Lions last year. Nice to see him back.

The 29 year old forward returns to the Rocket after two years testing the waters with Arizona (NHL and AHL games) and last season in the Swiss NL.

A good write up on the seven guys signed by Laval today. Just click on the link in the tweet to access the article.

Renault will bring some veteran presence and some serious toughness to Laval. He fought Rempe and got the best of it IMO. Click on the video to watch the scrap.

Laval sign another gars de chez nous. He is a 6’1” 22 year old winger that split his time in the Colorado system between the AHL and ECHL. A former third round pick, but likely a tweener that sees time in both TR and Laval.

Some very informative quotes from a recent interview that was conducted in Slovakia with Mešár. Each of the tweets in the response can be opened fully (click on “show more” in the original tweets and subsequent response tweets to see the entire quote/response he gave. I think it shows that some of the dog days of summer reports you see about trades and players is often just click bait rubbish.

This seems like just another minor pro filler for Laval/TR, but there is a cool little Guhle connection here. The two were teammates in the WHL in PA during Guhle’s rookie season when the Raiders won the Dub. Hayes was the captain of that team and was succeeded by Guhle as the Raiders captain the following two seasons (including his last season when Guhle was traded to Edmonton and went back to the Memorial Cup). Yes, dog days of summer stuff!

A huge 5-2 win over the baby Bs in their barn last night. Mailloux the star with a 2+2 game, Mešár right behind with a 1+2 game, and Engström got his first.

The defensemen were joining the rush en masse. Solid goals. Mailloux's first was especially nice. BTW, that was the first regular season game. If things continue as they have early on, I can see Mailloux deserving a shot on the 3rd pair. Also, nice to see that Mesar was putting up points as well. Another point of note, and highlighting the fact Boston is on the slide down....the Rocket outshot Providence 39-14. When Boston gets some injuries...there is no one on the farm to call up to help out, and they have $148K in cap space. No solutions for Sweeney, Neely and Jacobs. On a similar note, Alexander Barkov is out 2-3 weeks for the Panthers. Wonder how they're going to handle that? Ottawa beat them Thursday night when Florida's opposition got reasonable goaltending, instead of Korpisalo level sieveness, and they had Barkov the whole game. On the road to missing the playoffs.

This was the only goal the Rocket generated in Springfield last night. 3-1 final with the last goal being an empty netter.

I guess this means Kapanen and Heineman are both sticking then. ABB will help the Rocket.

Mailloux was in beast mode against Providence. Nice to see Mesar making some plays too.
Hughes played pretty well in the tight loss to Springfield. It seems like Springfield always ices very competitive teams.

Woohoo... kappy and Heiny are far better I've ragged on Barre-Boulet, not because he doesn't have some pretty decent skills, but because he was skating in the way of guys who are going to be much more important to the team 2 years from now. He's a good player, outside of not having quite enough speed or size. But he can't get bigger and he's had several years in a solid organization and hasn't gotten faster. Nice addition to the Rocket, though.

If anything that can be developed post draft, it's skating. Hard work in the gym and power skating drills are effective...to a degree. It wont turn X into McDavid, but it can improve speed and agility. Particularly in smaller, lighter players. See MSL about that.
I'm not comfortable or forgiving to those youngsters who don't put the effort to improve. It's THEIR choice to be bus riders in their careers.

BTW...my parents wouldn't buy me a pair of skates no matter how much i begged. I only learned to skate when my best friend gave me his old pair, in my mid teens. I never forgave them for that. Gave them whatever they needed or wanted from my deep pockets...but for me, it would have been a "waste of money" if they bought me skates and "waste my life" if i learned to skate.

Wow the Rocket are soooo much more fun to watch than the big club. Looks like Roy is getting his mojo back, engstrom moves like hutson, very slick and Dobes is playing very well.
This is the AHL highlights
This is some of the in game action, you'll see how slick Engstrom is

Beck with his first AHL goal. Great effort on the assist by Mešár. That “kid line” is really playing well so far (Davidson is the third guy).

Laval beat Utica 4-3 behind two goals from Tuch (his first two pro goals), a 1+1 night from Roy, and a goal from Davidson.
Tuch gets the first star in front of a large contingent of family and friends.

Terrible sight and I hope all is well for him.

Mešár got all tangled as he went into the boards on this play in the last game. He did not return with a LBI. Today, the Rocket announced he will be out 8-10 weeks 😔. He was off to a great start on the “kid line” this year, so this is sad to see.
