All three missions accomplished tonight. A clinched playoff spot, tied team record for longest ECHL winning streak (14) and tied ECHL record for consecutive games with an assist (Desharnais - 17).
In addition, Aubin had a good night with a 1-3 night and Latendresse the elder had a 1-2 night for his first game with his new team. Desjardins picked up another win in the 5-2 triumph. Aubin and Beauregard each had 10 shots on net. Bonneau had no points or fights.
Desharnais, Aubin and Latendresse were the three stars.
This team is on an absolute tear right now.

The streaks end tonight. The Clones lost 3-1 after riding a new ECHL record 17 wins and Desharnais' new ECHL record of 17 consectutive games with an assist also ended...he had a goal instead and the only one the Clones could muster, although it was 23 straight games with a point for young David. They threw everything they could at their opponents as they other goalie had 42 saves in the win.
Cincy was actually a perfect 13-0 in February...impressive!
Mathieu Aubin was the ECHL player of the week last week with big points since his most recent stint in Cincy. Time to wake up Mathieu or suffer the fate of Urquhart. You need to be sticking with the Dogs as there are others recently signed or soon to be signed that will be gunning for your spot.

Desharnais gets Feb rookie of the month and Desjardins gets rookie goalie of the month, with only 5 of the team's 13 wins of the month!! Desjardins is now with the Dogs taking backing up Danis now that Halak has moved up permanently.
A non-Hab Cyclone also gets the plus/minus award of the month. This team is on a tear like very few other, at any level of hockey. Their ECHL record 17 game win streak was recently ended, but they have bounced back with two straight to make it 19 of their last 20. Little 5'6" rookie David Desharnais had a quiet 3 point night and now leads the ECHL in scoring.
Amazing!!

Cincy and its Habs prospects with a big win tonight, 4-3.
Desharnais gets 4 helpers, Latendresse gets 2-2 and Aubin gets 2-2. The Hab prospect line did all the scoring.
They have cracked the century mark in points, second in the league and looking strong still despite losing Desjardins to the Dogs (the Halak domino effect) and a few other key guys to AHL callups.

Both P K Subban and Yannick Webber off to fast starts in the OHL playoffs. Subban has 4 points in 2 games, and Yannick, our soon-to-be favorite Swiss defenceman, had two goals in Kitchener's 9-2 win.
We'll see Webber for sure in the Mem. Cup final as Kitchener is host.

They have no intent on getting their just as hosts, they are going to play to win the OHL. Weber should have a fun ride and it will be great to see him play in May. Hopefully Whitey and the Hitmen will be there as well (h&c would disagree of course, being a Giants supporter). It would be nice to see as many Habs prospects there as possible.

Olivier Fortier - our only QMJHL based prospect, was just awarded the Guy Carbonneau trophy for the best defensive forward in the Q this past season. We don't hear much from Olivier and his offensive production was down somewhat this season, but this shows stats do not tell the whole story. lhjmq.qc.ca/lang_en/index.php?page=232&id_nouvelle=1740

Interesting, cause one of the things I looked for in the box scores (seeing as he wasn't scoring much) was if there was anything else he could do well. Unfortunately, all I noticed was a singular lack of success in the faceoff circle.
maybe he's a good skating, smart positional player.

Despite losing their two goalies to AHL call ups, the Cyclones keep winning. 6-2 tonight with Desharnais (AHL contract and rookie) getting 4 points and padding his league leading points. He is only 5'7" but is tearing this league up in his first pro season. Ryan Russell also likes his new ice time in Cincy compared to a lot of press box time in Hamilton, as he also had 4 points and an honest +4 on the night. Latendresse had two points and Aubin one. Beauregard is still injured and Gleed played and was pointless but racked up a nice +2 on D.
I think the team is now officially a billion games above .500 on the season. (Edit: maybe rounded up a bit lol, but 51 wins in 66 games and .811 win %...impressive)

It would be nice to see as many Habs prospects there as possible. i'm a supporter and a realist. the hitmen are the favourites in the dub, but as we all know that doesn't necessarily mean they'll be in the mem cup. i'd say that the tri city americans are the favs in the west, but never count out the giants because of the intensity that don hay instills in that team. they just swept the chilliwack bruins, but like last year, when they were our toughest opponent in the whl playoffs, they pushed us to the max in every game. we don't have nearly as many weapons as last season after losing some quality d-men and lucic, but to get to the mem cup you're going to have to battle in some wars. but we've got some really good 16 and 17 year olds who seem to have found another gear for playoffs, so you never know. ;D

Clones snap a one game skid and win 3-2 this afternoon. Ryan Russell potted two goals and Aubin and league leading scorer Desharnais got one assist each. Desharnais now has 110 points and a 12 point lead in the ECHL scoring race. Three games left in the regular season then they get the first round off with a bye for finishing first in their division.

Notes from our two USHL prospects. Two games left in the regular season (it ends on Saturday night), and Andrew Conboy and his Omaha team won the Anderson Cup for winning the regular season. They are going into next week's first round of the playoffs with home ice advantage. Scott Kishel and the Sioux Falls team get the second seed in their division, so they to get home ice at least for the first round.
Three rounds of best of five series for the Clark Cup. All will be concluded in early May.

The Cyclones and Desharnais are still on a tear without either of their two regular goalies who are both still in the AHL. The Clones are one win away from tying an ECHL record for wins. Good luck tonight boys. If they win tonight, they also get first overall in the ECHL as well as home ice through the playoffs. Desharnais is a big part of their success. He had a big week, not just in wracking up a bunch of points. He was rookie of the month for March, the first player in ECHL history to be named for three months in a season. www.cycloneshockey.com/news_data.php?article=00457Also, named to the ECHL all rookie team. www.cycloneshockey.com/news_data.php?article=00458How about named to the all ECHL first team the day later. www.cycloneshockey.com/news_data.php?article=00459Last night he added 3 points to his league leading totals. He now has 105 points with one game remaining, pretty good for a kid who had 108 in the Q last season. He has a 15 point lead in the ECHL scoring race, so unless some guy has a 16 point night tonight, better add scoring title to his impressive mantle piece this season. Last night all our boys were firing as Aubin and Beauregard (back from injury) also had goals, Ryan Russell scored in OT, and Latendresse had a couple of helpers. If this team gets Desjardins back in net once the Dogs are done, they have a pretty good shot at a run for the Cup.

In the USHL playoffs, Andrew Conboy's league leading Omaha Lancers fell tonight to have their best of five first round series tied up at one apiece. He had no points tonight.
Scott Kishel's Sioux Falls Stampede lost the second game and are now on the brink of elimination in the first round down 2-0 in their best of five series.

Andrew Conboy had two goals and an assist, including the GWG in OT, in the Lancers 5-4 win to take a 2-1 series lead. They can wrap up their best of five later this week. www.lancers.com/leagues/newsletter.cfm?clientid=1996&leagueid=,4581,&page=26124 Conboy's offensive production has dropped from last year as he played more of a big, phsyical role player, so good to see he still has some decent scoring touch. He is off to the NCAA next season, so he won't be able to drop 'em like he did all season in the USHL. Scott Kishel's season is done as Sioux Falls were swept in three straight.

Cyclones win a big one last night to even their series at two. Beauregard the hero with two goals and an assist. They are back on the ice as we speak for game five.
Conboy was held goalless but his team prevailed and won their game last night 5-4 to take the semi series 3-2. They play Waterloo Blackhawks for the cup next.

Cincy win a big game seven tonight 6-1. Desjardins in net for the win, with Aubin leading the offense with 1-2, Desharnais with 2 goals, and Russell with a goal. They now play South Carolina in the conference finals.
Conboy held pointless but Omaha wins 2-0 to even the best of five USHL finals 1-1.

Conboy with Omaha's only goal in a 3-1 loss tonight padding his USHL playoff goal lead. They trail Waterloo 2-1, in a best of five USHL finals. They must win the next two games or come up a tad short in their pursuit of the Cup.

this Conboy kid might really be a sleeper, huh? Timmins seems to like him and I love that phrase that no one likes to play against him. Sure hope he makes the big team in a couple of years. We could use a tough guy who can play. (Like who couldn't)

So long as he's physically ready, Conboy should go pro as soon as he can. I know he's committed to MSU next season, but I hope he ends up in Hamilton in 2 years.

Tomorrow night at home they get to go for all the marbles. Our first prospect to get a chance at some hardware this spring.

The Cyclones are now playing for the Kelly Cup after winning their conference finals in 5 games. Desjardins made 50 saves on 51 shots for the OT win to clinch the series. Ryan Russell came up big with the series winner.
This is the first Kelly Cup final for Cincy, and it would represent a season double as they also won the Brabham Cup for the best regular season record.
The finals start next Saturday in Cincinnati. Let's hope some more of our guys get some hardware this spring time.
