The preseason requires that at least 8 veterans dress for any given game. I suspect we will dress Dach line and some of the tougher guys.
Maybe the Laffs can show us how to do the PP because we seem to embrace putrid.

The definition of 'veteran' by the NHL is pretty skewed, including first round picks and anyone who has played a certain amount of NHL games.

With these two lineups tonight, it could get ugly. Thank goodness the Habs have their leading scorer, Pezz, dressed tonight. 😆

Well there goes the presseason shutout. Honestly why are we even playing this lineup. It is utterly pointless. I wish we would be more aggressive and play 75% of our lineup so players can develope chemistry.

Has MSL lost the plot?
Dach-Newhook-Laine had more rust on them the a 30 year old Lada and they don't play?
Hutson with Barron? So might as well as target Hutson with impunity.
This is barely an AHL team with some players that should already be cut.
Ooops...i forgot, this could be the lineup for a league leading power play....

I know I'm not as smart as Marty, but I also know it's important to get off to a good start and some teams (eg Buffalo, Ottawa) are playing most of their A line-up in most games to get them used to each other.
Gignac is never going to see the light of an NHL day unless we have a zillion injuries. Tuch has looked good but there's no room for him yet on the big club. Pezzetta is only needed because it's the Leafs (he's on the team for sure). Barre-Bulleit (I like my Bourbon) is for Laval as is Kidney. Let's. make some cuts and get the real players working together.

I know he has to say those sorts of things, but really Max. Ten seasons with Montreal and yes, Bergevin is a jackass, but you had some good times on that club.

I think this is the last chance for the kids to show what they have, the cuts will happen tomorrow, that leaves 3 preseason games to gel.
Sat at home V the Loafs then tue at home v the Hens then the 5th at the Hens

Max validating the notion that he was never, in fact, CH captain material. For tonight's lineup I'm ok with us dressing scrubs. After the game there will be a million cuts and then the real tuning up can begin for the veterans. There are still 3 games left after this, which is plenty. There's also a balance between wanting to prepare the team and minimizing risk of injuries (see Doughty).

Disappointing but predictable. I guess he's not going to come out & say I only signed here because no one else was interested.

Ottawa sent a total lame B team to Toronto a few days ago. It is no big deal. I think St. Louis just wants to make guys like Gignac and Kidney feel like they are part of the program and not giving them a single preseason game would be kind of tough.
Toronto is going to send a bunch of kids and AHL lifers to Montreal on Saturday.
I hope the goalie play continues to be quality. The boys could really help out Dobes and Hughes by keeping the penalties to a minimum.
Kapanen is playing with solid wingers, so it seems as though management really wants to see if he can replicate his standout performance against the Flyers. And I cannot help but wonder if the kid looks really good for the remainder of camp, what will St. Louis' opinion be and what will management's decision ultimately be.

I know Domi would never fight the Sheriff, but I hope Pezzetta gets a chance to pop him in the face.

The kids are looking ok so far. Some mistakes but they haven’t played together. Barrin getting lots of opportunity. I wouldn’t have him on the penalty kill

I like Kapanen’s game. He’s thinking it more quickly than his teammates. Reinbacher made a nice rush but there was no plsy to nake cause his teammates went for a change I think. Briadcast crew talking 80% about Leafs.

Newhook rightfully described as Habs best player so far. He’s our 5th, 6th best forward in a normal game?
Hopefully kids will be better in 2nd as they assimilate.

Dobes is holding the fort. It would be nice to see some kind of transition game and offensive coherence by the Habs in front of him to take the pressure off.

Habs positioning in their own end is dysfunctional. Partly lack of playing together, partly inexperience.

The only bright spot is Hutson and Dobes.
Rein missed 3 easy passes. Not impressed.
