Brutal special teams. Is it ever going to get fixed?
No goals on the PP and 3 goals allowed on the major penalty.

I'm not watching anymore, no one stands in front of the net, they perimeter pass the whole PP... ridiculous

Late hit by Greig, up high. Tough guy won’t accept Pezz’s challenge. The dirty Sens are going to be a team to dislike even more this season, if that is possible. What seems likely from the leafs game and this one is that teams are adopting the Florida model. Goon so much that you’llget away with something. Also, officials will not protect anyone. If they simply called an ‘attempt to injure’ major and game misconduct occasionally, it would fix everything.

Xhekaj has a ref‘s target on him. Not sure what the solution is because the league protects its refs even when they’re grossly negligent.

So the Sens are now 4 for 8 on the powerplay and we're 0 for 5. Might be a long season if msl can't get these boys coached up on special teams. A team without systems sounds pretty modern but really just rudderless

And how about Primeau and his 5 goals allowed on 17 shots 👌

And how about Primeau and his 5 goals allowed on 17 shots 👌 Dobes is breathing down his neck. Guy Carbonneau would make a great assistant coach, no?

I had thought about Guy Carbonneau a while back ... he's 64 now, but I don't think that would be a factor ... IIRC, special teams were excellent under Carbo ... he'd also help out with faceoff skills ... Cheers.

So the PP is 0 for 21 in the preseason ... what is the plan for the regular season Clearly it was not just Burrows. I like that they added a “player development” coach consultant, but the bigger outstanding need is still a boring Xs and Os guy to offset all the other coaching skillsets (and gaps) of the existing crew.

You can’t teach a chimpanzee to play a Stradivarius. After 30 years it’s not the teachers, it’s the players.

Bringing in Guy Carbonneau is signalling to Martin St. Louis that he is being shown the door. Carbonneau is a recycled head coach, he was fired for a reason. And Carbonneau does not play well with others and players hated him. Please no, next people will be suggesting Mario Tremblay again.

Lots of bold trash talking by Sens fans tonight about Xhekaj, but they sit safely behind their keyboards and don’t actually buy tickets to see their team play in the failed IT hinterland of Kanata. LeBreton flats will be a much better location, but the cheapo fans still have to buy tickets.

As head coach, I'm taking Condatta and Tuch to the side and ask them if they want to make it with the big team and how do they think they are going to do that? By their massive talent or by the tools they have.
Then pulling Struble, Pazetta, Mailioux and Barron and asking them if they are comfortable, if they think that their jobs are safe and reminding them that they have the size and their toughness is a requirement.
I was really looking forward to Mailman showing his tough side but I suspect that he's playing safe with the fear if he gets suspended, his job is on the line.
I don't know what to make of MSL. Some coaches build tough teams, some coaches are corporate lakies. So far, I get the later feeling from MSL...which goes a looooong way in establishing team mentality. If you don't think so, look at his PM record.

I thought he was a really good interim coach but I don't see him as someone who will develop a defensive system...or a tough team. Not ready to dump him but he's on the clock...

No contest there. Good of Dach to throw them and it that didn't test his knees, nothing will. Same thing with Arber's shoulders. We have to accept an occasional loss to deliver the fact we won't get pushed around. I want nothing more than to just be allowed to play hockey, but I think that's exactly the concern these other teams in our division have.

Great fight by Dach. Throwing both rights and lefts! Hope that gives him some confidence in all areas.
I'm OK with X hit on Strutz. Fact is, dirty or not, X caught him with his head down. Sent the message to other teams stars. Now the problem is X is getting a reputation with the Players Safety folks and becoming a repeat offender. That will not be good a few years from now when he does something and the league wishes to get him out of commission.

But in 2 years we will have lil X and Thorpedo... we need someone in the top six who will fight and we've see Slaf and Dach fight which is good, other teams will take notice... I don't want them fighting but they have to stand up for themselves

I think the habs should bring in someone to teach all the players how to grapple and control an opponent... better they know what to do than get embarrassed or hurt
