Chistmas has come early for Mailman and his spokesperson Cranky. I was thinking during last night's game when Maths got injured that this may be a blessing. With Maths out, this gives opoortunities to the youngins. We saw Lane get prime TOI. Now Mailman gets in and maybe some PP time. Marty was relying way too much on Maths. This will force the coaching staff out of their nest. Maybe even see a canon on the PP. Did I mention Cranky's elation?

I'm concerned about recalling Mailman.
The first game he was sent down, he went on a rampage and played like an angry man against boys. 2 goals. 2 assists.
I don't want him back up and Marty'ized. Turned into a trembling capon, unsure if he will be flying paper airplanes from the stands on his first mistake.
Hutson is a mistake machine but hasn't missed a shift. I think 4 of the goals in the pPenquins game were partial to totally on him.
Let's see how he handles Mailman...

Turns out Mailman is being called up to replace Guhle Maths is hurt too, but he is travelling to NY with the team. Guhle is not making the trip. Slafs is also hurt. Here we go again! Mailman may not even dress as if Math is good to go, then I see Struble getting the nod to repalce Guhle.

Look at my game posts, stupidity gets called out no matter who.

At this point, NO ONE in the universe know who is paired with whom. Hutson is a defensive black hole so it has to be Savard. Mailman should be paired with Struble, because Struble is better then X defensivly. Or Guhle, which will put him on his natural side. X and Barron. No choice. It makes sense but then, let me know what makes sense to Marty and his pets.

Guhle needs to learn how not to expose himself so much to big hits.
For 2024-25 my opinion on Hutson has not changed. He should be a power play specialist and a third-pair guy. If St. Louis keeps playing him 23-24 minutes a night, he may get 45 or 50 points but he will also be a -45/50 for the season. The Coach seems to only think about the fact that yes there is more space for a small guy than there used to be; however, there is also a lot of open ice for opponents to counterattack into when Montreal decides to defy the laws of defensive balance.

I've been watching Guhle and trying to figure out why he has doctors on speed dial...
Most of the punishment comes from board battles. I don't know for sure if all his injuries emanated from there, but one needs to ask is why is he getting so intimate with the boards. The first reason is he's got limited options for outlet passes. He literally must pass and spin away, but that's impossible if the forwards or fellow defenseman are not there to receive them.
Which brings us to Hutson and Matheson. One is a rookie and a defensive black hole. The other one is a vet and a smaller defensive black hole. Neither of them win board battles or can be depended on to retain possession once challenged.
So Guhle take the hit (or hundred) to maintain possession for better opions...and...why would anyone be surprised he's paying the price?
