ABSOLUTELY NOT
Z loves himself.
Let's trade X to Booins and they'll make him the next Chara and Mailman to Anaheim and watch him blossom to a 60 point monster.
Meanwhile we get ready for the next rebuild in 2030...

No way!! Zegras is playing down on the 3rd and 4th line in Anaheim. Gee I wonder why? Could it be that he's a selfish slacker all about the highlight reel?

I read the article. Where's the bargain this reporter is talking about?
Zegras is not the gritty guy that Montreal is rumored to be after.

Z The G, aka, Zegras the Great has...sit down for the shocker...3 POINTS IN 14 GAMES
ONE GOAL
Imagine having given up our RHD future for this clown. But hey, he's a fancy stick handling clown.

Zegras will succeed somewhere but it sure as heck isn't going to be in the system the Ducks play or on a team molded by Verbeek.

I would do Newhook + misc. for Zegras.

I would argue that Mailloux and Hutson have increased in value — at least from my perspective. True that Newhook and Dach have decreased, but not as much as Zegras.

I would do Newhook for Zegras and not much more. I still detect some people are sticking to their extra righteous milk crate on Mailman so while they are willing to forget how some of our other prospects are doing, they want to jump to a "bust" conclusion on Mailman. He certainly can use a lot quicker skating and more balance, which some are translating as "hockey vision". Skating is EVERYTHING and if it's not elite, it shows in ones reaction time and options. We are at least 2-3 years away from seeing his real potential as an all around defenseman. THAT is why he's untouchable in my books.

I don't want Logan going anywhere... he missed a lot of development time. We have a diamond in the rough imo... how many teams would like to have a 21 year old, offensive, big RHD? He needs to get stronger and needs to get his impulses under control... he's a keeper

My question keeps coming back to whether or not he is analyzing the play in his own zone well enough and quickly enough. The lack of games played may be causing that. It's still a question in my mind, but other than that, the guy could indeed be an excellent Dman. Without that, the ceiling is likely 3rd pair. I hope he figures it out.

Mailman would of benefitted like no one else if we had a teaching vet. The smarter player just steal knowledge from vets, some vets love to teach kids. Monahan comes to mind.
It doesn't have to be an allstar. Just have to be very good on the defensive defenseman side and willing to be patient.
OR...
Put Mailman and Guhle together. I have no idea how Guhle works with teammates, but he is known top be serious and a leader.
When I taught people how to use the CNC's, I lost lots of product and hair follicles. Trying to teach someone who last job was working on a farm with 1930's tech in a 3rd world country is not easy, but it can be done. "This is what you do and this is why you do it" is not a fast process, but it's effective. Well, at least to the majority of people who are WILLING to learn.
Teaching...IS the CORE of development.

I would say, "no" ... according to which talking head you're listening to, Logan Mailloux is one of the top d-men in the AHL right now ... wouldn't want to trade that away ...
Cheers.

My position on Zegras remains the same (I will not be more critical because of Zegras' horrible start to his season). Nothing against the kid per se, but how in the world is a 23/24 year old who has not been able to handle the full plate that comes with being an NHL center the answer for the Habs?
Montreal needs centers; Montreal needs more size and physicality; and Montreal needs more forwards with a determination to forecheck/backcheck and win puck battles.
Mailloux is a keeper. I see his ceiling higher than Reinbachers' and if I had to guess the future top pair will be Guhle-Mailloux.
Verbeek is probably feeling really sour about now. The kid played hardball at the negotiating table, but he has not changed his stripes on the ice. Zegras is a highly-skilled perimeter guy who either cannot or does not like to be bothered with the rigors and details that come with playing winning two-way ice hockey.

They should bring in Markov to teach these guys I'm a big fan of hands on, direct teaching. It's one thing to be on the ice and a small head movements means a Bible of thoughts and another doing it on the bench after the fact. Both can be done, but one is faster and more effective. Also elevates the level of responsibility. If you pass the puck in my legs and I have to take time to retrieve it, which gets me a board crushing, you will know it right there and then. And a huge sorry vice versa. I have no clue if Markov is the answer, but SmartyMarty isn't.

If it's low enough, sometimes players change. Sometimes... As for Mailman I agree. Goes back to me valuing a full 200 ft defenseman more then a one dimensional rover. On the other hand, a 80 point rover with a 6-7 defensive skill works for me.

I'd say that's reasonable ... besides, if they felt that strongly about Matvei Michkov, they had a chance to draft him ahead of David Reinbacher ... Cheers.

Michkov has already been benched once by Torts for not following his directions. Elite offensive players have to be handled differently, but there are still some lines no coach will accept crossing.
