Joel Armia
His 10th short handed goal as a Hab, ties him with Martin Rucinsky, Benoit Brunet and Jimmy Roberts for 9th all time (Habs list)

I wish I can remember some of the things I use to do with such a tight game. At one time when i was young, I wouldn't leave my seat until the game was over. Thank God for my barrel bladder!

AND THAT WAS HOW TNE SYSTEM FAILS
Edit....does SmartyMarty understand that his system shouldn't force players into STUPID options.

Not only does Suzuki lose the opening OT faceoff, he loses his stick ... Calgary easily gains the zone and scores

The boys, overall, played pretty well tonight. Not a great third period, to say nothing of the 10 seconds of OT, but there were positives. Montembeault saved a lot of high danger chances. The special teams were good. But unfortunately the Habs main gunners were firing blanks tonight and in a tight game that is often a definitive problem.

This loss is on SmartyMarty system. Evans would normally pursue the puck carrier man/man, instead, pulls to a zone defsnse and the puck carrier had room to roam and set up a perfect slot shot.
This is getting tiring...

BTW...
X played 3 shifts in each period and 11.34
Guhle and Matheson were overused and minus 1 and played 23.26 and 26.23
Great bench management...

Oh well. I was cheering for Calgary anyways, since I want that 11th overall pick rather than a 25th overall kind of pick.
Dach is slowly coming around. I'd still rather see Hutson than him on PP1 though.
Newhook looks a lot more like a 3d line winger than anything else. The guy has speed but too little playmaking and a mediocre shot, and he isn't strong enough overall to be more than filler as a C.
Suzuki needs to wake up, he's playing like a mediocre 2nd liner.
Xhekaj played a decent game, for once.
I really hope the Habs re-sign Evans, and I hope they move Dvorak ASAP. I wonder if Dvorak had a good game because he was told teams are looking for centers.
I wonder about Slaf at times, I saw him squander a 2 on 1 by going over to the other side of the ice where his teammate was, rather than heading for the net.

This kid gets better every game, don't understand why he doesn't start the OT Marty has fallen into the Therrien trap...playing not to lose rather than playing to win. Which is really baffling when it's OT. There are probably various things that factor into it. He may want to reward a player for a good game and I understand (supposedly, since it was blacked out here) that Dvorak played well and won over 60% of faceoffs. The veteran thing comes to mind. Frankly I would start Guhle on defense every OT. Matheson is a loose cannon, more likely to make an error than a great play that wins in OT. Not to mention he had already played 26 minutes. He is, however, a Marty favourite and that's the last point I'll make, that Marty has the players he loves (Matheson, Anderson, other vets) and those he doesn't (Xhekaj. It was a thoughtful discusson on Marinaro's Sick podcast with guest Chris Nilan yesterday. There was definitely more questioning about Marty's coaching (despite the fact Marinaro says he 'loves' Marty) and his lack of interest in grit. Xhekaj and perhaps Struble and the only players I can think of who consistently bring grit. Anderson tries to hit people and manages to damage the boards more than any bodies. When they talk about grit, it's guys who can make players on the other team think twice and by doing so, create space, time and momentum. Marinaro asked Knuckles to make up a 4th line. He didn't complete the task and mentioned that Florian is not ready for the NHL, but for a game, he'd have Florian and Luke Tuch. I'd go with Tuch for sure (He deserves to be up and on the team right now), Beck (because he is defensively responsible and wins a ton of faceoffs, while giving you a great shot and then probably Pezzetta. Florian needs more experience and needs to beef up. He's tall, but not as filled out as he's going to be. I think that line wokuld provide a lot of energy and give the team some oomph, which they don't have at all right now. But Marty doesn't seem interested in that kind of player, at least not now. Unfortunately, the team is lacking that very thing and the losing is becoming a habit.

Calgary got a two point blessing from the equipo levantamuertos; the Flames came in losing to everyone the last two weeks. Honestly, I think it is likelier than not that Calgary ends up in the 8-10 range than outside it. Having said that, the kid Wolf could be an X-factor. If he plays great this season (I mean great like he's a Calder Trophy finalist), then for sure the Flames should pick off enough points to avoid the bottom ten. But I would still see the playoffs as a very remote scenario.

But I would still see the playoffs as a very remote scenario. Anything from 11-16 would be just fine. Wolf is only 6' tall and if he has to play a lot of games, could easily wear out.

I don't mind having Dvorak start OT to take the draw and then head right to the bench, which is what I expect the plan was. OT is all about possession and he's our best faceoff guy.
