He's going to be a good bottom 6...but not yet.
But...
If the intent is to build a tough to play against team, I'm afraid he's a few levels short on the anger mismanagement level.
If he develops some seperating ability like a deadly shot then he has a higher probability of making it on the team.

Condotta should help the grit level. They're certainly not setting expectations for the younger kids to get promoted ahead of schedule. Is Condotta considered a centre? He's shown as a left winger on the Habs site.
With Kapanen gone, they're now short at centre, as that was his career position. Suzuki, Evans, Dach (sometimes) and Newhook (sometimes). I appreciate that putting Evans at 2C was a reward of sorts, but seriously, you can't have him there, even if Dach is not up to snuff yet. I saw that the Habs had Marc Bureau working with the centres on faceoff skills. That's a good move. I wonder if they considered Carbonneau or Yannic Perrreault, two other options? Both had better career numbers than Bureau. Perreault especially, was 60% and clearly did not rely on brute strength.
This righty-lefty faceoff thing is another strongly held belief that can be challenged, IMO. One of the best guys I ever say drawing to his right was Derek Sanderson, who was left handed. He had a real knack for just timing it right and sweeping left to right and rotating his body while holding his stick fairly stable. Hell of a faceoff guy.

Well, the kid got a nice taste of what NHL hockey is all about. But this is clearly the right move because he did not really look ready.
Candotta is the right guy to call up because Montreal desperately needs to construct a fourth line with guys who play with jam.

I think he always returning overseas unless he absolutely lit it up. I'm glad that he should be getting top line minutes to develop. This is the ideal situation and I can't wait for him to return stronger and more experienced.

I agree with sending him back to the SHL, but our center situation is kinda pathetic right now. Newhook and Dach really aren’t proving themselves to be the 2nd line C solutions right now. Actually, they’re barely proving themselves to be NHL centermen, period.
So after Suzuki, who’s our next best center? Is it really Jake Evans? Then who? If I’m trying to win a game, I’d play Kapanen before Dvorak, personally.
No, I’m not giving up on Dach or Newhook at center, I just feel that Kapanen is better at center than some of our current center options. Regardless, he’ll develop better in Sweden in a more offensive role. He’s not ready to be 2nd line C in the NHL. Alas, no one is.

If I was Marty St. Louis (I'd have more money than I have now) I would put Dach at 2C. He's been getting better, game by game, a bit more assertive each time. If we have any thoughts of him being the 2C or 1C -A or B, he needs reps, now. This season is turning into almost a wasted one, IMO.
Newhook, IMO, is a really good winger on the third line. Fifteen minutes or so per game (maybe more if he's hot). Marty needs to solidify the lines and let them get used to each other. Let's put a pause on the Mixmaster.
Caufield - Suze - Slaf Newhook - DAch - Gallagher Heineman - Dvorak - Anderson Pezzetta/Condotta - Evans - Armia.
Newhook and Heineman can be interchangeable if one is on a hot streak.
Evans and Armia will get plenty of ice time with PK duty. At the TDL, Dvorak is gone, and probably Armia and maybe even Evans if the offer is really good. Beck and Roy can be recalled to replace them, not necessarily in the vacated spots, but at least our future forward roster is taking shape.
I'm going to keep banging the Matheson trade drum. TDL time there may be some contender who sees him at their version of Matthias Ekholm and we can get an A prospect for him in the 20 year range. Nemec for example (we may have to add something, depending on how well Nemec is playing).
Anyway, if we're going to go through growing pains, let's let the kids play where we expect them to play.

Help me with the rules here! Did they just burn a year of his contract by playing more than 10 games?

Help me with the rules here! Did they just burn a year of his contract by playing more than 10 games? He is 21 years old, so this year his contract can’t slide anymore anyway. It was always going to burn a year off his ELC. In the end, getting important minutes with Timrå is better than less than 10 minutes a game on a team flopping around right now. It does leave the “true” centre depth a bit of a glaring hole though. Dach really needs to find his game soon. It is tough after missing a whole season, but also not having some stable linemates isn’t doing anyone any favours by the looks of things these days.
