good article at hockeysfuture on our world junior players www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/10087/canadiens2008_wjc_preview/i hope subban can crack the top 6 and play 8+ minutes/game, but it could be tough. mcdonagh not making team usa for me is big, maxpac looks like he's going to be a great pick for the spot we took him at.

It's disappointing that Macdonagh was not chosen, H & C, but HockeyUSA has been criticized a fair amount in the past for some strange decisions. It will be interesting to see how the chosen d-corp turns out by the end of the tourney.

no idea what the criteria is, i see blum tons and if mcdonagh is as good as him i'd be happy, blum plays in the whl and has a mem cup under his belt, so can't complain about him being on the team. its tough to swallow that neither of our 1st round pick usa d-men are on the team though. having said that it means little to nothing about what kind of pros they may be.

subban didn't get a lot of ice time today, but hard to expect that from a guy that was a suprise invitee and then suprise to make it. maxpac went out of the 1st period of 1st game with apparent knee injury but thankfully returned in the 3rd period. incidentally i noticed that maxpac was from new caanan, ct, my sister was a nanny there for 3 years and i went and visited her, its a super wealthy part of conneticut, not that that means anything. i hope he is ok, he's the player i want to see most.

Friday Dec. 28th - USA 4, Switzerland 2.
Yannick Weber, by report: 1 assist, 4 PIM, 3 shots, even on plus-minus.
Max Pacioretty did not make the scoring statistics. I don't know anything about his ice time.

Juraj Mikus is apparently like John Smith over here .... not the guy we drafted in 2005 Same height, same weight, same country, but then it goes awry ... one shoots left, the other right, one is a center the other a defenseman ... but the biggy - different birthday. Correction made above

Max Pacioretty got a favourable mention in Frank Seravalli's blog on Friday's game between the U.S. and Switzerland, see www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=12145 Seravalli also liked Yannick Weber's performance for the Swiss team. By report, Timmins was interviewed on RDS on Sunday and said that Pacioretty was playing hurt with a heavily bandaged leg. The only mention of Pacioretty that I found for the U.S. - Russia game is that he took a penalty at 3:34 of the 2nd period.

Canada vs U.S in semi final game. This will be the first time I watch Patches play a full game. Subban's been a little disappointing so far. Quite the opposite with Weber.

Just curious, but does anyone know how many prospects the Leafs have in this tourny?

ladies and gentlemen, we have our power forward. maxpac is coming, loves the front of the net. Sure seemed that way today. He even started mucking it up when a Canadian defender knocked his helmet off while he was battling in the crease. A 19 year old who does not need to be told where the net and crease are and who is scoring at a point a game in the NCAA. Sounds good. Too bad he has been playing on the 4th line and mainly a checking role this tourney, although the Coach did move him up to the second line in the third to try and generate more offense. #17 will be back on TSN in the morning against the Russians.
