thought i would get a thread going, because i know its going to start soon. what happened to this kid, well i did see him in the whl go through some bad stretches, but at the nhl level you can't do that for more than a week or two and you're in danger of losing your job to the backup. he has all the tools, it will come down to whats between the ears. got lit up for 7 GOALS last night! current stats Jan 16th GAA: 4.52 Save%: .838 current stats Feb 1st GAA: 3.29 Save%: .878 current stats Feb 3rd GAA 2.69 Save%: .896 last 3 games 2 GA on 35 shots 1 GA on 21 shots 0 GA on 25 shots game by game stats link stats.theahl.com/stats/gamebygame.php?id=1834sticky?

I saw him live last Friday and he had a solid game. Allowed 2 goals which he couldn't be faulted for. Don't know what happened the last couple of games but sounds like the wheels have fallen off unless it's a team defense problem.

Playing for the Hab's I've noticed this about our future saviour. 1) He stays very deep in the net. (not good) 2) He always is well positioned and square to the shooter. (good) 3) He relies on positioning to stop shots more than a gloved hand. (good if you're 6'3") 4) He is cool and composed in nets. (good) 5) He handles the puck well but makes many mistakes along with very good passes. 6) He is efficient in his movement. (good) 7) He allows a lot of goals that sail over his shoulder into the corner of the net without any movement on his part. (good against guys that shoot into his pads but poor against snipers that pick the corners) 8) He goes down quickly. 9) He doesn't give up many rebounds. (good) He has to learn the shooting habits of the NHL opposition and improve the depth he takes in the nets to cut the angles. He is a rookie! He will improve! He is our best hope for the future!

oh don't get me wrong i'm not worried at all at all at all. hehe, i was actually starting the thread in that light to allow others to start slagging him, but this board is too smart for that. he'll rebound and i'm glad he's going through this now, it will make him a better goalie, and i still believe he will be our #1 in march. otherwise we'd be losing huet for nothing, and i'm not sure that is the best idea. although i'm totally against trading huet for a 3rd round pick or 3rd line player.

Yeah, some are labelling him a bust already on other forums. It's a lot for anyone let alone someone from Tiny town in the sticks. He'll adjust in his own way and find his mojo. I have no doubt we'll find him keeping the net with his chest out proud and gaming with fire in his eyes for many years to come. We're all going to be very proud of this young man.

Actually, I'm glad to see this. It's perfectly natural. He was on such a roll, starting in the WJC a year ago, that the inevitable step back has to happen before he takes 2 more steps forward. I think he's just having an emotional let down from being dropped from the big team. Give him another couple of weeks to get over it and he'll raise his game again.

Price will be fine. He’s going through the same thing Halak went through, when he was first cut. Eventually Halak got over it, and subsequently tore up the AHL. Price will do the same.

I heard Peter Chiarelli of the Bruins this morning on the FAN590 talking about Tukka Rask. he feeels he may be ready next year but also admits he may need another season in teh AHL. The most interesting part was his description of the levels of play required in training camp, pre-season & the early part of ther season. He felt that the level of play increases as the season goes on. He referred to Price while he spoke & wasn't surprised by his demotion. It was just a normal stage of development. It's hard to believe that fans are giving up on Price after 20 games. Gimme a break.

Price struggled in a few outings in Hamilton last year but like all good goalies bounced back and went on that incredible run. HFTO

Actually, for the record, he has 1 goal against in the last 125 minutes of regulation and OT, and four shooters in the SO.
The team has scored three in four games and one OT, all in the last 5 minutes of the games, and one in the empty net, to get 4 out of 8 points with only three goals in that stretch.
Goaltending is key.
