It sure is great to have Gainey in Montreal, he is starting to put his mark on the team. Kovalev will only make the habs that much stronger going into the playoffs. As for Balej, he is unproven and inexperienced at the NHL level. Way to go Gainey.

This is a great trade PERIOD. If we have success this spring and Kovalev and Koivu or Kovalev and Ribs click and he resigns all I can say is WOW!
This guy is one of the most talented players in the league and we didn't give anything off our roster! LOVE THIS TRADE!

Kovalev is 31 =bad trade. Lang=33=NHL scorin leader Sakic=34= 67points in 64 games Recchi=36= 63 pts- 67 games Sorry but I disagree about his age being a problem. At 31 he is still in prime territory (i'd say prime playing age lies somewhere btw 26-34) and has been pretty healthy throughout his career. As long as we sign him, this is a great deal in my books.

I think this trade signals a few things..
- Dagenais's days are up or - Zednik is on his way out
I don't like this trade a for a few reasons, mucxh the same way that I kind of like it. We are picking up a UFA at the end of this year, and are giving up a prospect who has proven himself on every level that he has played. This doens't bother me so much by the fact that we have way too many prospects in the cupboard though. As for the 2n round pick, that's ok, we have enough depth and still some other picks left.
stilll.. i'm weary

He seemed lifeless with the Rangers the same lifelessness that Muller had in his last year with the Habs. I just hope he isnt a shot player. Gainey did claim last week that he would only trade for a player that would be a regular for years to come. Does he think he will sign Kovalev after this year???

He seemed lifeless with the Rangers The Rangers suck the life out of everyone! Let's see what he can do after he gets over the jet lag and onto a team with life!
