(tsn.ca) The Detroit Red Wings have acquired defenceman Jason Woolley from the Buffalo Sabres for future considerations, TSN has learned.
Woolley, a veteran blueliner who was released on waivers earlier this week, will drive from Buffalo to Toronto today to join the Red Wings but is not expected to play against the Leafs tonight.
To facilitate the trade, Woolley had to agree to restructure his contract. In the last year of his deal, he was scheduled to make $1.425 million but agreed to decrease that amount by $175,000 in order for the Red Wings to add him to their payroll.
Woolley had just three assists in 14 games for the Sabres this season
nice move for the Wings who are missing Fischer...
