The BuffaloSabres website reports that 6'2' 200lb LW Denis Hamel is on waivers. His contract is up at the end of this sesaon, currently at $500,000. I always liked Hamel, he's tough and fairly talented, a big improvement over the wankers we have on hand for 3rd and 4th liners. Sabres Place Hamel on Waivers Buffalo, NY (Feb 28, 2003)--The Buffalo Sabres announced that Denis Hamel (LW) was put on waivers Wednesday. The deadline to claim the player is noon Saturday and Hamel will be assigned to Rochester if he is not claimed. www.sabres.com/

Would be a decent enough pickup(no risk involved) if we could get rid of some of this ''fat''...

Grab him and send him to the farm. They need 22 players next year and I don't think Savard has enough bodies.

When you grab a guy off waivers you have to play him for a while, before you can put him back on waivers to be able to send him down. So if you grab him, it has to be to play him.

Actually guys the point is now moot. This was posted on Feb.28th, he didn't get picked up. He is a poor man's Martin Lapointe, definitely worth the gamble, but alas not this time.

Then trade for him for future considerations.

Then trade for him for future considerations. Huh ? If anyone wanted him, they would have traded for him already, straight from the team he was on originally.
