Kevin Lowe is also sending his team a message that although being in 10th place and 6 points behind the Kings in 8th, he is not giving up. Nice touch for a team that was doing the big salary dump this time last year.

This smells.
The Rangers are picking up all of Nedved's contract, and shipping back a goalie they received from Edmonton in the Brian Leetch trade last year, in return for the same pick they received in the Leetch trade, and two career AHLers?
This is worse than collusion.

I heard something similar last night, Skilly. You're probably more right than you know.
It might have been on TSN, or the NHL network, but one of the panelists suggested that Sather was pretty much doing Lowe a favour by sending these guys to the Oilers for next to nickles.
The old-boys network I reckon.
Cheers.

It seems to me that someone in the Ranger or Oiler organization have some friends in the NHL head office to get this deal through. I mean the Habs have to pay all of Kovalev's salary (1.2 Million) and they gave up a potential blue-chip prospect. The Oilers get Nedved (one year older, about the same skill level) for free. They get back a guy they didn't want to give up last year ..... and send back peanuts and the same thing they received last year. What a pile of .......!!
