My personal favourites.
Maybe because I heard him so often: Canadian broadcasts: the late Danny Gallivan--the guy was NEVER a homer. It's just that he covered so many winning teams. I remember getting angry with him whenever he'd compliment the other team's play. He was simply the best. When he took the job, he related a story that Frank Selke Sr. came into the booth and said, "Remember, there are TWO teams on the ice." And he said he never forgot that. He added words and phrases to the hockey lexicon that live on today. "Cannonading shot"; "the puck is caught up in the paraphernalia"; "spinerama"; "...and that shot just missed by a whisker".....add your favorites.....
American broadcasts: the late Dan Kelly--what emotion he had. Just listen to the Canada Cup '87 final game for an example.

Mr. Bozo,
Thanks for that picture. A flood of memories come back just looking at Mr. G.
Three more of my favourite phrases from him:
"And heeere come the Canadiens...three of them at centre...."
"Oh...and a scintillating save by Dryden...."
"And he kicked out that leg in rrrrrapier-like fashion."

How about ...
"what a canonading drive by Lemaire ..." or
"OOOOOOOOOO .... A THUNDEROUS BODY CHECK BY ROBINSON !!!"
From what I understand, Danny only got into the Habs dressingroom twice in his entire career, because he didn't want to seem biased.
Cheers.
