Sure, why not? Give the Leafs another headache to deal with.

He's a shell of his former self, but the guy has been all-class off the ice since coming over to NY. Even his insane parents have been on their best behaviour (no comment on the rumours they are tied up and gagged in the bowels of MSG!)

RR, how about this for a conspiracy theory.
Lindros decided to tank it this year in NY so he can get out of town ASAP and since the leafs are the only team that would probably be interested in him, he could return home and be proclaimed as the saviour and then get crushed in his first game since he would be playing his former physical 'style'.
Heh...some Flyers fans have come up with this if you are wondering heheh lol.

Well, if there was a conspiracy theory, it would be the other way around... see, this off-season is an option year, so a decision needs to be made... but not by the Rangers, by Eric, because it's a player option. Lindros comes back if Lindros wants to come back. If he wanted to bolt to the Leafs, he would play incredibly well for 2 years, decline the option, become a FA and have the Leafs creaming their pants to sign him. Then he could coast the rest of his career in TO. Personally, I prefer the conspiracies that Trottier was working for the Isles trying to sabotage the Rangers and that Sather was trying to do the same for small-market teams far and wide.

Interesting.
Think he will decline the option? I believe it's for 9 million right ?

Deal this year was for 2.7 mil, bonuses (games played) put him up to 9.3. I believe his base is 2.1 next year with a similar bonus structure.

he could return home and be proclaimed as the saviour and then get crushed in his first game since he would be playing his former physical 'style'. Weirder scenario: After a summer of hype hype hype, Lindros would be "can-openered" by McCabe during practice, fall and bang his head into the front of Gilmour's re-habbed knee...and they'd both be done for the season. McCabe traded soon after. Nothing against any player...just Don Cherry and the rest of the CBC "Leaf fanatics".

Or Lindros comes to Toronto, starts playing physical again...has a great 5 games...everyone in TO gets excited..they play the Devils and Stevens puts him out of hockey....

Even if he weren't on my team anymore I would never wanna see that happen to the guy. Yeah, his parents are whack jobs but he's actually a really nice guy, believe it or not. Too bad he's become such a nice guy on the ice, too.
