Man their D SUCKED with Svehla...can you imagine without him unless they get Derian Hatcher(and if you are Derian Hatcher why would you want to commit to the Leafs ?)....

You really have to wonder about the way they evaluate talent. QUinn gave up on Yuskevich ( 3 years younger than Svelha) and now he has no credible contingency plan. Housley at 39 - I doubt it. Coliacavo(sp?) probably.

As for Hatcher, I would be shocked to see him leave Dallas.

Honestly, Marc, I wouldn't take them in Montreal. I don't know Svehla's overall assessment other than he's a veteran who was contimplating retirement.

I've read elsewhere that Renberg needs good players around him to be effective. Well, that about sums up most players. Honestly, there are very few players who wouldn't play better with better players around them.

If Svehla was 5 years younger and wasn't talking about retirement every off season, I would take him. He has been the most physical D-man in TO and he is fairly dependable...yes we do have a lot of right D-men, but I would choose him over Q as he is more mobile...

As for Renberg, I agree, without star players, he is a floater. I would rather see TO keeping their floaters
