I know it sounds lazy, but you guys are actually quite good at giving bios of traded players with their good and bad sides. I quicly checked Dowd, and the numbers are not that impressive. How will he be a better player than the one he'll replace?
Thanks

Personally, I find this trade is bad, useless. We have a surplus of players of 3rd and 4th line. It's redundant. Dowd is another player with skill limited ...
We lose 4th round pick, a small amount of money and a valuable spot on the roster.
I prefer Habs play Kilger, Sundstrom, Begin or any young at Hamilton than Dowd.

We lose 4th round pick, a small amount of money and a valuable spot on the roster. I prefer Habs play Kilger, Sundstrom, Begin or any young at Hamilton than Dowd. This trade is a character move. Dowd isn't about stats. Dowd is a character guy that teams need in the playoffs. He's a reliable checker with speed and grit. He's also the RH centre that BG has been talking about since January. Dowd may not play everyday, but he adds some versatility to the team. His playing won't come at the expense of Sunny or Begin. It's the likes of Kilger, Juneau and Perreault that will be on the outside. Kilger doesn't work hard. Dowd does. Every shift. He's an older Begin. Juneau's back is getting worse. Dowd is a healthy player, and a couple of years younger. Perreault, while having played well the last week or so, is playing out of position. If the team can find a team that will take him, and he agrees, then he's gone. Detroit is a possibility now with injuries to Dandenault and Draper. Yanic is atleast worth the 4th rounder Dowd cost us. This move is a piece to the puzzle. Jim likely doesn't have a future with the team beyond this season, but the role he'll be asked to fill will be far better filled by him than someone from the farm.
