FLORIDA PANTHERS RE-ACQUIRE RW VALERI BURE Panthers Claim RW Valeri Bure Off Waivers From the St. Louis Blues
SUNRISE, Fla. - Florida Panthers General Manager Rick Dudley announced today that the team has claimed RW Valeri Bure off waivers from the St. Louis Blues. Bure, who was traded to St. Louis on March 11, 2003, in exchange for D Mike Van Ryn, returns to South Florida, where he posted 44 points (13 goals, 31 assists) in 77 games over parts of two seasons.
"We would always welcome Val Bure back in a Florida uniform," stated Dudley. "He is a special talent and a very respected member of the dressing room."
Bure, 29, has skated in nine NHL seasons with Montreal, Calgary, Florida and St. Louis, scoring 348 points (152 goals, 196 assists) with 195 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound native of Moscow, Russia, was originally acquired by the Panthers on June 23, 2001, along with Jason Wiemer, in exchange for Rob Niedermayer and a second-round choice in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. His best NHL season to date came during 1999-2000, when he scored 75 points (35 goals, 40 assists) and participated in the 2000 NHL All-Star Game in Toronto. He was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round (33rd overall) of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft.

sorry about that last post . clicked the POST button too early.
This is an odd move - by Larry Pleau. He gives up Van Ryn to use Bure for a month or so than puts him on waivers. Does he think more than a month or two ahead of time?
