Pat Quinn is getting a little hot under the collar since his hands are tied waiting for Svehla to make up his mind regarding retirement... www.slam.ca/Slam030703/nhl_tor1-sun.htmlTake your time Robert, take your time! ;D THF

Can't say that I blame quinn this time. Svelha pulled this retirement stunf in Florida & now he is doing it again.
Why the Leafs wait for Svelha to make up his mind and Quinn goes to Vancouver for the summer, all the good UFA's get signed & players Like Drury & Reinprecht are moved to other teams. Even Buffalo & Columbus get in on the act. All they will end up with is a has been like Marchment. Must drive leaf fans crazy.

It's hard to believe that a team with such a big budget ( according to Richard Peddie) is held up by Svelha. I think they are just using this as an excuse.

from Spector's spectorshockey.net/: "TSN.CA: reports Leafs interim GM Pat Quinn denied he was pursuing defenceman Greg de Vries. Quinn claims there is not enough money in the team's budget to sign him, and claimed de Vries's agent was simply trying to "create a market" for his client through the media." now I'm totaly confused . I always thought that De Vries is no.1 on thier priority list, even before Hatcher or Wesley. If this isn't some trick by PQ, than who are they after? Klee? Johansson? Boughner (they have nothing to trade for him but picks)? i cannot believe they would go with unproven youth on D when they have such an old but still offensively very good line-up. although, as Spector noted, the signing of Wesley by the Canes might force Quinn to change his mind, they'll need more than just De Vries to make them a contender. I honestly thought they would sign Wesley and De Vries and persuade Svehla to return. ah, well, it looks like more bad news in leafland. R.

wow, Svehla's agent strikes back: "We're being made out as the villains in the black hats on black horses who are handcuffing the Leafs, and that's not right," Winter said. "We're open-minded to deal with this. We can agree to part company and let Robert walk away. If they want the no-trade clause waived and trade his rights, that's another option. There are a number of creative things we can do. "(The Leafs) are the ones who haven't called us back." slam.canoe.ca/Slam030709/nhl_tor1-sun.htmlR.
