In keeping with club policy, additional terms of the contract were not disclosed. Rivers has appeared in 340 NHL games with five different teams over the past eight years totaling 13 goals and 36 assists for 49 points and 270 PIM. Rivers appeared in just one game with the Florida Panthers last season while playing 50 games for the San Antonio Rampage of The American Hockey League. In 2001-02, Rivers appeared in 64 games with the Boston Bruins. His best NHL season was the 1999-2000 campaign with the New York Islanders when played 75 games tallying 17 points and 84 PIM. Rivers was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the 3rd round (63rd overall) of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.
