PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) - The Minnesota Wild on Wednesday re-signed goaltender Manny Fernandez to a one-year, $2.2 million contract, avoiding arbitration. Fernandez tied a career high with 19 wins last season and was fifth in the NHL with a .924 save percentage and 10th with a 2.13 goals-against average. The 28-year-old nephew of Wild coach Jacques Lemaire came off the bench and won the final three games of the Western Conference quarterfinals as Minnesota stunned the Colorado Avalanche. He stopped a team playoff-record 43 shots in Game Seven, a 3-2 overtime victory in Denver. Fernandez was 3-4 in the postseason with a 1.96 GAA and .929 save percentage that ranked third in the league. He is 62-65-15 with a 2.52 GAA in 154 games over eight seasons with Dallas and Minnesota. The signings of Fernandez and left wing Antti Laaksonen leave defenseman Willie Mitchell as the Wild's only arbitration-eligible player.
