Mel lastman had an interesting comments about the laff's in this article: www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=49126&hubName=nhl"When Lastman discussed Carter's previous NHL stops in Edmonton, Washington and Boston, he said it would nice if he could add Toronto to that list one day, but quickly added: ``I don't know if he wants to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs, they haven't been doing too well - since '67 or '68.'' This from the mayor For once, Mel Lastman makes sense! THF

Mel Lastman's a big goof who obviously doesn't know much about hockey. He was also quoted with comparing Carter's goal to Paul Henderson's: "You all remember and you all keep seeing all the time ... about Paul Henderson and what he did for Team Canada,'' said Lastman. ``Well, that's what we're going to be seeing for I don't know how many years - Anson Carter scoring that overtime goal." Since the day after Carter's goal, how many times has it been shown on tv? Sorry Mel, but I don't think that Carter's goal can compare anywhere close to Henderson's in terms of magnitude and impact on the lives of Canadians.
