Svehla > Marchment (Defensively they are about the same, but Svehla's offensive skills are superior to Marchment's. However, Marchment is much more physical than Svehla, a missing ingridient on the leafs blueline)

McCabe < McCabe (McCabe's worked hard over the summer on his fitness--something that he didn't do last year--so, expect him to have a better season)

Kaberle = Kaberle (has leveled off the past couple of years, so he'll have another 40-45 point season, and ups and downs on D)

Berg =< Berg (after a strong playoff agains philly, maybe berg can finally put a more consistent effort in the regular season)

Lumme < Bell/CC/Hedin (we could play a retard in a wheel chair, and he'd play better than lumme, so Bell/CC/Hedin are a HUGE improvement)

Jackman = Jackman (another wild-card. if he can contain his physical play (and not thake so many dumb penalties), and improve his zone coverage, he'll earn top 5-6 ice time for sure)


therefore, our D should be better than last year.

Last night, watching a story on the Leafs TC, they mentioned that Colaiacovo had a small injury of some kind, but it wasn't serious. This led to the announcer's proclomation that the future of the Leafs defense was bright. I nearly threw up. These guys really are living in a dream world. Perhaps not this year, but next year they miss the playoffs. Simple as that. They are too old up front and too weak on the back line. After the Eagle, they're weak in goal and Eddie hasn't shown consistency lately. The excuses in a couple of years had better be imaginative but I doubt the Toronto sports Network is original enough.
