Chouinard was a first-round draft pick of Montreal in 1998 but things never worked out with the Canadiens. He saw action in only 13 games over four seasons with Montreal before he was sent to the Flyers for a second-round draft pick on Jan. 29. "I really don't know what happened there,'' he explained. "Maybe I thought it was going to be easy. You come out of juniors (where he scored 57 goals his final season for Quebec) and you come up to the pros, maybe I thought it would be easy.'' www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=53773Should be interesting to see who ends up winning this deal. Our track record of trading with the Flyers isn't too great.

I just don't see him getting any kind of shot behind Amonte, Kapanen, Recchi, Leclair, Gagne, Williams, Brashear, etc any time soon...

What? WHAT?? That's it? No I told ya 439 times he will make it? The season ACTIONS is much more inportant then the pre-season hype. If he scores 20 goals this year then I think that I will eat thirty helpings of crow. But, I'm not prepairing to pluck yet........

Chouinard never stood out in the AHL. He was playing for Utah, not Hamilton, at the time of the trade, and his stats even there were mediocre. I had read earlier on that the Canadiens weren't going to re-sign him at the end of the 2002-03 season. I was relieved to hear that Savard got a 2nd rounder for him. I still can't figure out what Clarke saw in Chouinard other than that he had clicked with Simon Gagne in the QMJHL. For that matter, I'm skeptical about a successful reunion of Ribeiro and Dagenais.

From what I understand of that article, it appears Chouinard would be the center. Only stuck behind Jr, Primeau and Handzus then

If so, maybe they are looking to move one of their centres. They can surely afford to do so since they have Chouinard as well as Jeff Carter and Mike Richards in the pipeline.
A guy like Handzus would be a perfect fit on a team like ours. Huge (6'5'') and solid on offence and defence, he would be a major upgrade over Ribs, Kilger, or Perreault.
I wonder what the Flyers would want in exchange.

I'm happy for him. Now he can enjoy all the first-round exits in the world.

Hey presto! Savard turned Chouinard into Maxim Lapierre. Too early to say whether the operation was a success or not, but the youngest player at camp has held his own by all accounts.

If Chouinard has any value at all, it is as a power play specialist. Defensively, he ranks with Perreault and Brisebois.

Chouinard getting another chance is like Jenifer Lopez getting another chance at marriage or Darryl Strawberry getting another chance in re-Hab. They only break your heart.
