I'm starting this thread here because it was mentioned after the Habs' win on Saturday night.
I was stunned to hear Ron MacLean's comment to Don Cherry after Saturday's game:
Don said, "I'm ticked off...I'm a Leaf fan...I admit I'm a Leaf fan...."
Ron interrupts, "You get paid a lot of money to be a Leaf fan...."
I always wondered why Cherry "loved" the Leafs so much, when we all know his allegiance is to Boston first, Kingston second.
I can only assume from MacLean's statement that he, Cole, and Neale are also paid to be Leaf fans.
For a national broadcast, this bias is unaccepable. They are hired to call and comment on a hockey game not a hockey team. Bowen and Neale on regional broadcasts are different...it's called Molson Leaf Hockey. Saturday games are Hockey Night in Canada...not Hockey Night for Leafs Fans.

I thought that Ron said "You pay a lot of money to be a leaf fan"
CBC used to have the Coach's Corner transcripts on the HNIC website, but not any more.

I agree about the bias. It's unacceptable. Regardless, the Leaf management has been given a lot of grief recently, and it's all justified.
