The players are adamant it won't happen. As Columbus forward Geoff Sanderson told The Columbus Dispatch, "If they demand a salary cap, it's going to be a long time without hockey, and it's going to get pretty ugly, too... There's no way we'd ever agree to anything like a salary cap. Not ever." How bad could it get? There's talk of the entire 2004-05 season being wiped out. Star players are already talking with European clubs about playing overseas next season; others recognize they may have to get regular jobs outside of hockey. If the stoppage is prolonged, there's talk as many as 10-15 teams could fold. - article
