Why was McCabe playing tonight (Monday)? He should have got at least a game for his post game crosscheck from behind on Koivu. Brian Leetch got two minutes for highsticking Zednik at the 20 minute mark...McCabe didn't even get a penalty. I assume the Habs sent a tape into the league office. Plus they have McCabe quoted as saying, "No big deal. I'd do it again." The NHL has learned nothing. No wonder frontier justice reigns supreme.
Lindy Ruff says Nieuwendyk deserves a suspension for giving captain Chris Drury a mild concussion.
"I thought what Nieuwendyk did is on the lines of a suspension," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. "The guy has his helmet off and he fell on him and pounded his head into the ice. It was a gutless play on his part."
Good luck, Lindy. It's a Leaf.
And so, gentleman Joe has finally joined the ranks of the desperate, clutch, grab, cheap shot Leafs. They were doing the same thing against the Sabres tonight.
I want them GONE after round one.

Not to mention how Joe ran into Martin Biron in the third period ...... If I was the defenseman he would have been thrown into the boards.
He never hit him hard now .... but he bumped him like 10 seconds after the whistle.
The NHL will never learn the "societal" deterrents necessary to prevent vigilante justice ...... the NHL has it's head office in the ACC (can you say conflict of interest), and the league hierachy must have colour blindness as a prerequisite of employment because they all seem to think that Toronto is wearing black and white ........ (sure looks blue to me)
have to check the rule book to make sure 9 refs are allowed on the ice at one time .....

And the worst about the Leafs is that Quinn often (or always) blame the refs for their loses. Those thugs should play the whole 60 minutes on the PK if you ask me.

This is why they'll never amount to anything. When they can't beat teams on the scoresheet, they have to result to such goonery. It didn't work against the Hurricanes two seasons ago, they were out-gooned by the Flyers last year, and this year, they're just going to go completely over the wall and have to spend at least half of each game killing penalties.
If this team wants at least marginal success, like, say, a Finals appearance, Quinn has to go. But that's just my opinion, and to be honest, I enjoy seeing the Leafs lose. I pity them not...yet.

The Leafs are going to be one desperate, scary team come playoff time, much like the Flyers of the 70's. Tucker, Roberts, McCabe, Domi, Belak, and Marchment will all be absolutely rabid....count on it. Thankfully Travis Green is off this team or he'd join them. And I've seen signs of Owen Nolan and Joe Nieuwendyk joining this disgusting display.
Whoever plays them is going to lose some stars due to injuries inflicted to "level" the playing field. That's the only way the Leafs can win. Hopefully, two refs will keep them in the box deservedly so.
I hate the way they play. Their fans call it grit and heart....crap...it's initmidation and cheap shots. You want grit and heart...look no further than last year's Minnesota Wild.

I would say a scared team rather than a scary team. This is their last shot and they know it. The new acqusitions have not helped - they are really stumbling now. Boston only scored 2 last night but they had a couple of posts and some close calls. And Leetch seems to be getting his points on the PP. I don't think teams like Philly, Jersey or even Ottawa will be intimidated by them. As for attempts to injure - I don't know how the league will react. In the wake of the Bertuzzi incident I hope that they will be more vigilant.
