Ha Ha - Looks good on them.
Saw the first period and Tampa was ALL over them. I think there was maybe one goal that Belfour would have liked back. Toronto's defense was playing like they were in a non-contact league.
Anybody else see the game?
Tampa is one team I would not like to face in the first round.

Toronto has no system. They run around like a bunch of idiots, and somehow, manage to win games. While this would work in the 80's, that kind of play won't work now. The Rangers do the exact same thing, except, they weren't winning the games.
Leafs out in six, against whomever they play.

It's when you look at teams like the leafs that you enjoy even more the CJ system. Center coming back in their zone to help the defense makes all the difference. Sundin on the second goal just let go his coverage to go high for a counter attack but the bolts turned it over and got the Modin goal. Sundin sometimes is just the biggest floater. Eddie the beagle wasnt at fault on 5 of the 7 IMO, but still seems to be out of position too many times.

Belfour was defenseless.
Against all laws of probability, lightning struck the same Eagle's Lair 7 times.

The Leafs are playing with reckless abandon right now. They were outshot and outplayed by Philly and Colorado but had much better goaltending. In both games they scored timely/weak goals on limited chances a la the Habs of 2001-02.
That pattern ran out of gas last night against the Lightning who probably thought they were in a non-contact game.

My favorite part of this game wasn't a goal but a scrum along the boards.
Roberts went after Andreychuk. Surprise, surprise - it was Roberts that ended up on his butt. He looked so befuddled that he didn't know what to do & he just laid there for a moment.

He looked so befuddled that he didn't know what to do & he just laid there for a moment. Roberts went after Andreychuk from behind as he was going for a change. Andreychuk took the shot, turned around, took a glove in the face...then gave Roberts a face-wash shove, knocking him down. Dave got the only penalty. Total garbage. Later in the third period, Roberts skated by Lacavalier and took a dive. Vinnie got an obstruction penalty. Roberts does this kind of thing several times in a game trying to draw a penalty. His thinking, of course, is that "it must be a penalty to take down a big, tough strong guy like me." Perhaps he is just one of the numerous Leafs who are "saving it for the playoffs".
