....the more they stay the same re: premeditated frontier justice in hockey.
Listening to Leafs' Lunch on 640 Toronto recently. Bill Watters, Jeff Marek, Rick Vaive, Joe Bowen.....all talking about coach John Brophy when he was coaching in the minors. I forget all the names, but somebody took a run at one of Brophy's players...so Brophy called up three outright goons to play the next time they met. But the goons got fogged in and couldn't make it.
Various things heard during this conversation, amid chuckles, backslapping and outright laughter:
"You're not saying Brophy called these guys up for a little payback, are ya? Har har har!"
"Oh yeah....I can see Broph doing that....you don't do that to one of his players and get away with it...."
"Lucky for (Player X) they got fogged in."
They may say what Bertuzzi et al did was wrong but their good-ol-boy anecdotes say otherwise.
