He could be a good pick up if you could get Dallas to eat some of his salary. He had some decent stats considering that Dallas were not all that great last year. Season Totals: 2003-04 82 34 35 69 +14 109 263 12.93 10 1 0 0 9 13 I think he would be a good fit for our first or second line. www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=86126

hmmm I do not like this guy at all - nothing against his ability as a hockey player but I would have serious trouble rooting for him...
Much easier to root for Kovalev in my world...

Compared with Guerin, Kovalev is a bargain. I'm sure the accountants on HabsRus who want to pay Kovalev <$4M would veto a trade for Guerin.

Very True, I would'nt mind having both of them though. Not in this era. Guerin is a bad apple. He's got game, but I seriously question his attitude. Reports indicate the dressing room in Dallas was so bad this year that much of the team didn't speak to each other all year. I don't think that we need to be taking on someone from that environment. Even if he wasn't at fault, he did little to solve the problems. Guerin's $9 million a year is a big noose around anyones neck. He never was, and never will be, a $9 million dollar player. At half of that he'd be more appealing (if it weren't for his attitude). I don't see Tom Hicks eating half of the contract. Besides, the only way we pull of getting a player like that is to trade prospects. I don't think we need to go down that road. Make every effort to sign AK. Any other players to come into the fold shouldn't come at the expense of more prospects.

Production vs. talent. Both were on teams with problems. Age?

Imagine a Habs practice with Guerin on the team and Punk/Stickboy/3rd rate actor Riberio pulls another one of his punk moves and Billy the HEADCASE Guerin snaps. Not a pretty sight .
B. G ;sign Guerin pronto if available..

You always have to keep your mind open on players such as Guerin, but he is the last of the $9 million player so unless Dallas eats half or two thirds good luck to them. This could styart me into another rant about the up coming CBA,but we'll leave that for another time. BO,do what you have to do in terms of upgrading the talent and keep the finances to yourself.Because of the business of sport as fans we worry about stuff we shouldn't have too. HFTO

Who wouldn't like to have a skilled player like Guerin? It'd be sweet if we could get him. Of course, his attitude isn't the greatest, but under BG and CJ, if he doesn't behave, he doesn't play.
Of course, I don't think that means we'll be getting him.

No, nyet, nada, never, nein, jamais, nunca, oxi, nix, mach, iya, nne, yanda, ingeno, aagaa, naamik, aa, naaka, ne, ma', ani, isha, iie, jangan, belum, bukan.................shall I go on?
This guy is the poster boy of merceneray attitudes. Hishistory is that he raises his game and scores a pile just before he signs a new contract and then disappears. His reputation in the locker room leaves a lot to be desired. He can be trouble like no one else ever has.
If you want, I will give you a Boston forum link and you can cry from what you will hear.
Think about this, if he is so good, why does Dallas want to get rid of him?

Bill Guerin?
No thanks.
That's a $9M albatross that Dallas is going to have a hard time getting rid of.

No.
Savard’s mantra as GM was to re-build through the draft. Everything Gainey has said and done leads me to believe that we will stay that course.
Acquiring Kovalev was not a deviation. Our youngsters are best developed with high-end veterans (ya think the Russian angle didn’t influence Gainey when he pulled that trigger?).
We don’t need Guerin in the top six, we have AKjr, plus Koivu, Ribeiro, Ryder, Zednik and a hopefully soon to be signed AKsr.

Add Guerin to the list of players I wouldn't want to see on the Habs. I recall having lobbied against Owen Nolan and was relieved when Savard didn't go for him. I'm still not in favor of getting O'Neill from Carolina or Lindros from the Rangers.

Morrow ... yes Arnott ... maybe, yes if we can get him and sign Kovalev Geurin ..... definately not.

That's right folks, only in Habsland do you say you don't want a Top 6 powerforward even though that is what the Habs sorely lack among other things like a Big 2nd line center. I forgot,Riberio will carry the team again ,if they ever find where he dissappeared to.
