What . . . no one's posted this yet? Boston Bruins captain Joe Thornton was awarded a 2004-2005 salary of $6.75 million US, a 23 per cent increase over last season, by an arbitrator Tuesday. Boston ain’t dead yet (rats!)

The league franchise player's salary now seem to hover around 7 instead of 10. That's good.
...this summer is proving that if the owners use their brain a little, the current CBA can actually work with minor tweaks...
Forget the cap, Push free agency to 35, Lower the rookies entry salary, Get the arbitration elligibility much quicker

The question is, "Who would you rather have? Thornton at $6.75m, or Neidermeyer at $7m. I'll take Joe please.

The question is, "Who would you rather have? Thornton at $6.75m, or Neidermeyer at $7m. I'll take Joe please. Over the years the Devils have treed the Bruins with their superior defense and goaltending. Niedermayer is no less an all-star than Thornton. Perhaps the only reason for taking Thornton is that he's younger and farther removed from free agency.
