hey guys, i'm in toronto as i write this after going to montreal to watch the first two games and then toronto for canada vs russia and tonights quarterfinal game.
I don't have a lot of time, but i'll write a full story on the whole trip as well as a comparison between the cities hockey fans.
I will leave you with this tidbit. Canada vs USA was a fever pitch all day outside the arena, tickets on the street went from $125 - $400 each, the atmosphere was a 9/10.
Canada vs Russia in toronto was dead outside the arena, tickets went from $75 - $200 each, atmosphere was a 6/10.
Montreal is a far bigger hockey town than toronto thus far. We'll see if they can pick it up tonight, but it doesn't look good.
go canada go!!!
PS i saw joe sakic in the hockey hall of fame go 0 for 5 shooting on the goalie.

First of all...what a display by the boys in a 5-0 rout.
Now to the thread...... I assume the corporate Toronto intermission crowd was at it again. Many lower level seats empty at the start of the third period....not filled til the 15:00 mark at the very least. It's a common occurence during Leafs games...even playoffs! But during Team Canada in an elimination game? Come on, folks.
Does this kind of thing happen at the Bell Centre?

Does this kind of thing happen at the Bell Centre? Only if the Habs are really stinking out the joint and not giving 100% effort.

Anyone else notice the wording at Center Ice for the arenas in the World Cup.
Czech : "World Cup of Hockey 2004 - Prague" Finland : "World Cup of Hockey 2004 - Helsinki" Sweden: "World Cup of Hockey 2004 - Stockholm" Germany: "World Cup of Hockey 2004 - Cologne"
USA: "World Cup of Hockey 2004 - St. Paul"
Canada: "World Cup of Hockey 2004 - Montreal"
Then in Toronto what do they have on the ice:
"World Cup of Hockey 2004 - Air Canada Centre"
Why? Why not just follow suit like everybody else and put the city name there?

Other differences between the two cities, i've had at least 30 people ask me as they walk by the air canada centre, "who's playing tonight?"
Those were on the nights when canada was playing. Whenever i see a canada jersey i ask "where are you guys/girls from?" 80% or more are not from here. There are a ton of calgary people here, i'd have to say at this point, and after being at the stanley cup finals that calgary fans are the best in canada.
