What a pair of soft quick hands Saku displayed in scoring the winner against the U.S. The Americans are the first team to lose in this tournament after scoring the first goal. Can't wait to hear what Brett Hull has to say now.
Looks good on that smug team. Hats off to the Finns who played the third period as tough and hungry as you'd want to see.
Now, if Canada can get by the Czechs....we gotta find some way to pepper Kiprusoff.

Exactly.....but reporters will track him down sooner than later for a comment. Inquiring minds want to know.

The Finns were full value for the win. The US had very few scoring chances in the 3rd, while Finland forechecked well and gave the US defense fits. Man for man, you could argue Suomi had the better talent overall. But that's just me...the Bush hater.

I have to admit, if we beat the Czechs, it will be hard cheering against Koivu.

I have to admit, if we beat the Czechs, it will be hard cheering against Koivu. Actually, I'll find it easy to cheer for Saku. From the start I've had problems cheering for Canada, just because there are players from all over in there. When I see Thornton, I want to see him hit, slashed and maimed.... so I've found it tough to be pro-Canada on this one. Pro-Finland ? Easy, Saku, and Kiprusoff who I cheered for in the playoffs, are on there.

I have trouble cheering for Thornton, too, but the rest of the team is composed of players I either like or don't mind (or don't know that much about). I like Iginla, Smyth, and Jovanovski, but most of the rest of the players I don't have strong feelings about.

I like the center from Ile de Bizard, Québec, but not as much as I do Koivu.

If any country beats Canada, let it be Finland. Koivu is Hockey.

A memo was circulated to Dan Rather that "W" picked the players and insisted that Hull was included in the lineup. Last time I checked the polls "W" was back in front.

A memo was circulated to Dan Rather that "W" picked the players and insisted that Hull was included in the lineup. Last time I checked the polls "W" was back in front. But "W" really is a pampered faker, and his lead is due to his having more deadly character assassins on his team. A question the pundits ask, "Who'd you rather have a beer with, Bush or Kerry?" Aside from the fact that "W" is a reformed drunk and wouldn't imbibe the lager, he's rather limited. After we've exhausted baseball, what would we talk about? His profound knowledge of foreign affairs? His flops as an oil executive? His wartime experiences in Vietnam? His Skull-and-Bones pranks at Yale? His preferences in barbecue sauces? His arrest for DUI? The books he hasn't read? The language he never mastered?

"W" picked the players and insisted that Hull was included in the lineup. I find it hard to believe that Bush insisted on a man born in Canada to do anything.
