I'll pick my ethnic cousins, the Finns. They impressed me more than did Canada in the semi-finals. Besides, they have the lone Hab in either starting lineup - Kaptain K.
Hea õnn Soome!

They play with total confidence in front of Kipper. But don't forget the Aki Berg-factor. ;D Gotta still pick Canada though. I think we'll somehow get by the Finns' trap and get lots of pressure on them. If not....we're looking at a Finn-winn.

You can't intimidate a Finn; even the little guys carry sandpaper.

I think we'll be better than we were against the Czechs and win by 2 or 3 goals.

I hope the fact that Koivu is Captain of his national team isn't lost on his detractors. The guy is a competitor and a winner.

The only hope for Canada is that more than a few of them match Saku's heart and desire...and that fewer Finns do the same. I really hope Brodeur is back...otherwise Luongo will be in net and our guys won't be as "free-of-mind" to take the play to the Finns. And that spells silver for us.

As I was saying in another thread, the country of Finland has already anointed their newest saviours and rightly so. It's a best-on-best tournament and they've made into the final.
Canada has all of the pressure squarely on their shoulders now. I'm not saying they can't live up to it, but the Finns might be a tad more loosey-goosey. And, as CentreHice said, they won't be intimidated.
But honetly, I'm just hoping that the game is decided by the players and not the officiating. My fingers are crossed that they don't take the Finns for granted.
Cheers.

I still like Canada's chances, as their skill and depth will prevail tomorrow night. Finland plays the best team game, solid team defence and has the top goalie in the world who isn't named Marty Brodeur, so it will be another nail biter.
However, I just can't see Canada coming out with another stinker like they did against the Czech team, who really took it to them far too often. The Czech's were able to get Canada scrambling in their own end due to non-stop forechecking with two forwards and a third in the slot. Finland will likely stick to their 1-4 trap and will allow Canada a much better transition game and a few less cardiac moments.
Canada 3 Finland 1 (last goal into an empty net).

I think credit should be given to the Czechs. They came out to play and Canada was overconfident, IMO.
I suspect the Finns will play this one as they did Sweden. As you pointed out, Canada can expect a 1-4 trap and Kiprusoff on top of his game. Finland can hit and has good speed so I don't expect a slow paced, boring game.

I do expect a slow-paced, boring game. Neither side will score more than 3 goals.

I think we'll be better than we were against the Czechs and win by 2 or 3 goals. RIght on! We have to remember it's a team game, (The US Dream Basketball Team taught us that). It's not the highest salaries or best collection of all-stars that wins. We have a good team. We play like a team. In a one-game championship anything can happen, but despite The Fins great captain, we are deeper, have better players and will play like a team. Canada 6 Finland 3. Once the floodgates open the pucks will fill the net.
