Ironic that his backup has better stats, though... The kid's just doing his best to be the next Mathieu Garon. ;D

I'm not ready yet;
to vote Garon into the Hall of Fame in a Kings sweater or Bonk in a Hab's sweater.
I'm not even sure how many years either one will be with their respective current teams.

Garon will be playing in his third AHL all-star game (2005, 2003, 2001).
Time to move up and star in the NHL (or a league like it).

Alas, poor Mathieu Garon’s playoff woes continue, as his heavily favored Manchester Monarchs were upset in the first round by the Providence Bruins. Manchester finished second overall in the league, a full 20 points ahead of Providence, who finished 15th overall, snaring the second last playoff spot (Hamilton grabbed the last one).
Garon was yanked in two of the four losses, and finishes the playoffs with the second worst goals against average, and the second worst save percentage (tied with our very own Yann Danis).
He’s a nice guy and all, but…

Los Angeles Kings You will hear few complaints from LA over the play of the Kings, who have been excellent thus far. The Kings have clicked on all cylinders thus far, rising to the top of the division thanks to solid goaltending, timely offense and good defense. Veteran forward Pavol Demitra has proven to be an excellent addition. Ditto Craig Conroy. Forward Alex Frolov is maturing into an excellent player and defenseman Lubomir Vishnovsky is on track for a career season offensively. Surprises -- Prior to the season, the Kings appeared vulnerable in goal with the unheralded Jason LaBarbera and Mathieu Garon manning the crease. The goaltenders have proven the critics wrong. Both have been excellent in net with goals-against averages under 3.00 and winning records. - www.nhl.com/features/pacific112805.html

Thank you for the win over the Leafs tonight Mathieu... looks like you stole one from them. Still helping the Habs out... gotta love it. I watched the game....and he did steal it. First-star....solid positional play and several quick kick-outs to the side. Leafs were 1-10 on the PP. Garon was the reason. The only goal they scored was on a 5-on-3.... K-hair-y Fraser was reffing....but Leaf fans can't complain when they get 10 opportunities.

From this morning's Toronto Star:
"I thought we had a lot of chances on the power play, but we just couldn't capitalize," Sundin said. "(Garon) made some big saves in key moments, but in this league if you don't play for 60 minutes, you're going to run into a hot goalie and there's a good chance you're going to lose the hockey game and that's what happened (last night)."

For the season to date: GAA - 2.85, 18th in league Save % - .904, 15th in league

Outdueled Luongo tonight, stopping 35 of 36 shots, and earned second star.

Luongo is not playing well at the moment. I watched him live against the Stars on Wednesday and he looked really shaky. he was pulled after 3 goals in 10-15 minutes and it looked like he's reaction was poor on 2 of those goals. he really didn't look very confident in his abilities. it may be that i caught him on a bad night.
Turco, OTOH, has played great in all the games I have seen this season (about half dozen). I mention this because it was said that Turco will probably be the guy Theo had to outplay to grab a place on Olympic roster.
