November 27, 2004 Parents grumble about their kids' organizations, but too many are afraid to speak outBy STEVE SIMMONS, TORONTO SUN There used to be this guy who worked in the sports department of our newspaper and had an opinion on just about everything. This was wrong. That was wrong. Everybody was wrong all the time. Until it was time for him to voice his opinion in a staff meeting. Then he said nothing. Then he was silent. He would have been a perfect hockey parent. - slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Columnists/Simmons/2004/11/27/pf-737116.html

State of hockey shocks Maybe it takes an outsider to capture the true essence of the Greater Toronto Hockey League. "It's ridiculous," said Jeff O'Neill, who grew up in King City, beyond the reach of the GTHL. In the absence of anything more productive to do, like play for the Carolina Hurricanes, O'Neill sat in on the panel yesterday afternoon on a minor hockey townhall meeting at the Armenia Youth Centre in North York. The GTHL is the world's largest hockey organization and just now it is the world's most battered and bruised hockey association. For the most part, these seem to be self-inflicted wounds. - tinyurl.com/4k8om
