After watching Al Montoya dog it through 2 and a half round robin games, it begs the question. Is Montoya this year's Fleury.
Aside from the fact that his play has been awful, TSN's announce crew noted that Al's work ethic has been less than impressive. Apparently Montoya has looked less than focused during practice. They also noted that his play at Michigan this year has been average at best. I wonder if last year's successes have gone to his head. Thoughts?

I haven't really been following him that closely this year, but what Gord and Pierre were saying makes perfect sense. There is so much build up into your draft year that you are focussed on only one thing, and you just go out with that driving all you do. It seems only natural for a let-down to occur in the next season.
The prospects are not the only ones to have this happen. Look at what happened to both Theo and Giguere the season after their huge breakout year and one in which they signed a new, huge contract.

However, one wouldn't think that Red Berenson would let that slide. I could see a slow start, but to be mentally out of it at this point is a surprise to me.

Fleury's lacklustre performance wasn't due to poor preparation. Playing with the Pittsburgh Penguins prior to joining the team he had to face tons of shots on a regular basis, so he was severely fatigued both mentally and physically.
