HOT PROPERTY 'The Great One' on a breakawayBy Ruth Ryon, Times Staff WriterIce hockey legend Wayne Gretzky and his actress wife, Janet, have put their estate in the Lake Sherwood area of Westlake Village on the market at $25 million. The compound has seven bedrooms and 7 1/2 bathrooms in 16,400 square feet. It is on nearly 7 acres and consists of four buildings with panoramic views of the lake. Other features are terraces, gardens, a pool and a tennis court. The couple has lived in the Georgian-style home since they bought it, custom built for their family, in 2003. Their publicist stated: "Wayne and Janet now have a growing, large family with teenagers with different interests, so they want to diversify and keep their options open." The Gretzkys also have a home in Scottsdale, Ariz., which they bought in 2003 for about $2 million. After 20 seasons in which he dominated the NHL, helping the Edmonton Oilers to win four Stanley Cup championships, "The Great One" became managing partner in 2001 of the Phoenix Coyotes. He announced this month that his partnership agreement with the Coyotes would expire June 1. There has been speculation that he would be asked to run the New York Rangers. Gretzky, 44, played for the Rangers after he left the L.A. Kings. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman canceled the current hockey season in February. Nicole Van Parys of Coldwell Banker, Westlake Village Centre, has the listing. - tinyurl.com/5exd7* Details of the humble abode.

Somehow it just doesn't scream, "I'm was the greatest hockey player that every lived" from those pictures.
Sad really... looks like a high class B&B. One that Modano and his dog would stay at.
(J4F - $25,000,000 home with 5% down, $5,000,000, over 30 years with $50,000 a year in taxes and $50,000 in insurance will put me and Mrs Habit back only $136,000 a month!!)
