I would imagine the Hurricanes would attempt to take out an insurance policy on the contract, if the prognosis is uncertain.
We'll sign you for X dollars - Insurance premium....

I don't generally trust the motivations of millionaires. How about those of semi-millionaires, who are just wannabe millionaires? They don't say to the GM, "I'm content with what I'm paid. I don't need any more."

Do we really want to use our armchair neurology diplomas to form prognoses? Allison's case is clinically distinct from that of Lindros or Lafontaine, for example. He is not suffering from serial concussions. Rutherford must be reassured that he is medically cleared to play. If Allison would take two asprins and call Julien in the morning, his chemical imbalance would be cured. I went to McGill with a lot of "Chemical Imbalance" experts (Trial and Error 101). Lafleur had a lengthy career with nightly chemical imbalances.
