[quote author=yeti board=Aroundtheleague thread=1122130588 post=1122919972 Look for Allison to play for the Leafs (he clearly said that he wants to play for the Leafs)... but what a ? health wise! Huge gamble... [/quote]
I was watching The Score tonight and there was a report that Allison was in Buffalo for a physical.( sorry no link, just a verbal report). Maybe there is something to that report thet Ferguson is too slow to make decisions.

Good to see the Carolina Hurricanes continuing to exercise the fiscal responsibility and wise hockey management that has made them the model NHL franchise.
Three years, $2.5 million a year, for Oleg Tverdovsky?? Nobody even wanted this guy last season. He cleared waivers, was unsigned, a UFA, exiled to Russia, and he comes back for $2.5 million a year??
It disgusts me that we lost a year of hockey to help prop up idiotic franchises like this. Tverdovsky may indeed thrive in the new NHL - he is a good puck moving, smooth skating defenseman - but come on. If he received a penny more than Patrice Brisebois' $1.5 million, he should be kissing some major butt. As it is, he's making more than Sheldon Souray.
Don't get me started.

Actually the link says 4.5 a season for two years, not a total of 4.5. Seems kind of steep to me for Kariya at this stage of his career.

It's official, Allison with the leafs for one year. Shows you how things may have changed around the Toronto Sports Network - it's not the lead story on their website. tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=132542

That Jim Rutherford's a beacon in the night. Or is it a target? It's survival of the fittest, so we should be taking candy from this guy.

Well, he's the same age as Koivu, and 2 tears younger than Kovalev..... because of his decline and injury issues I think we forget that he's got plenty of time to rebound, big time.

Looks like Ward and/or his agent weren’t so dumb after all, as he got more than the Habs were trying to get him to take…

Rick Nash 5 years $27M. $5.4M per year for a guy who's had one good NHL season (saaay, that sounds awfully familiar)—for a kid who's scored 58 goals but has a differential of -62? Smooth move MacLean, way to set the bar for other RFA signings. These GMs slay me, just slay me.

I just can't believe some of the contracts being handed out after suffering through a year-long lockout. It absolutely amazes me. Good thing that idiot-proof system is in place.

The point is that some of these guys are going to get paid those high numbers regardless...but it will remain some. The Rivets and Briseboises won't. In the future, it will get refined and the better guys will continue to be well paid (deservedly). Nash is one of those guys. His best year was his last one and he did nothing to dispel that in the lockout while overseas.
