Vinnie Prospal will be reunited with Vinnie Lecavalier in Tampa Bay at the cost of a second rounder to Anaheim. The Lightning made room for Prospal by not re-signing Corey Stillman.

Interesting . . . but Stillman will catch on somewhere.

Interesting . . . but Stillman will catch on somewhere. For sure. His speed and ability will make him attractive to a lot of teams.

For sure. His speed and ability will make him attractive to a lot of teams. Maybe I'm slow on the draw, but I don't get it. Why would anyone want Prospal? Especially over Stillman? Stillman: 25 - 55 - 80; +18 Prospal: 19 - 35 - 54; -9

The answer to a seeming paradox: look at the teams the two played for--Tampa Bay and Anaheim. Jay Feaster wants to reconstruct his top two lines because in the playoffs Stillman was probably the weakest performer among them. He remembers how well Prospal coordinated with Lecavalier before the trade.

Stillman: 25 - 55 - 80; +18 Prospal: 19 - 35 - 54; -9 Stillman got awarded 3.9mil in arbitration. At that price I'd cut him lose too.... Buh-bye! Prospal at 2.5 can do what Stillman wants to do at 4mil and add more grit to the equation. In Stillman's spot, Prospal got 22g, 79pts which is pretty darn close to Corey's number. I think this move makes sense.
