I just heard Jay Feaster on the morning show driving into work, and I've got to say what a refreshing guy he is. Living in this town you're so used to fellow lawyer John Ferguson Jr. with his dry "I cannot confirm or deny that", so it's very nice to hear a GM actually talk openly.
He said that getting Vinny and Marty locked up this summer was his priority, but they are part of a trio with Richards. He has every intention of getting Richards locked up next summer. They feel they can replace Khabi, in fact over the last two seasons there were numerous times where they thought of giving the starting job to Grahame. Now I'm sure that's also covering his butt, however Grahame's numbers aren't too shabby at all (last year he was 18-9-1 with a 2.06GAA and .913SV%).
He also talked about making sure everyone in the game consciously works at imporving the game. He said if that means they fly into Nashville on a Wednesday for a Thursday game and their PR guy says the local drive time guy on the biggest radio station in Nashville wants Lecavalier for 10 minutes, then he's going to do it.
Gord Stellick, co-host on the FAN, then piped up and said they would like to request Lecavalier, St-Louis and Richards to come on from 6am-10am everytime the Bolts are in town ;D
All in all, I was very impressed with Feaster, and I'm sure the league is incredibly happy that a guy like that is in a "non-hockey market". He will help in growing the game in Florida. Thanks God someone like JFJ isn't in a market like that, he would actually drive away fans.
