Will it make it to the airwaves? Or can we chalk this one up to the "no such thing as bad publicity" category? Burk to write letters of protest to NHL, NBC [/b] Associated Press Posted: 35 minutes ago NEW YORK (AP) - Martha Burk is taking aim at the NHL's newest television advertisement.
Burk, who led an unsuccessful effort to allow female members at Augusta National three years ago, called the ad "gratuitous" because it shows a scantily clad woman dressing a hockey player before he heads onto the ice. Martha Burk is back in the news after an unsuccessful protest at the Masters three years ago.
Burk plans to send letters of protest to NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and Dick Ebersol, chairman of NBC Universal Sports & Olympics. NBC is scheduled to run the ad next week. For more, read: msn.foxsports.com/nhl/story/4899590

Will it make it to the airwaves? Or can we chalk this one up to the "no such thing as bad publicity" category? It's Martha freakin' Burk. 'Nuff said -- she has little credibility, is seen as a whiner, and the "Red Mile" shows her out of touch with the "new" woman (one that I wouldn't want my daughter to become), as does this Maclean’s article on the female chauvinist pig. Burk misses the spotlight and wants back in, that's all.

I saw the add on tsn.ca and I think she should do a better job of picking her battles. There's nothing "gratuitous" about it - the woman is in the background and in shadow. I find the ad pretty lame (ok concept, terrible execution) but not remotely offensive.
