That's some roster the Rangers have . . . who will they be fighting for last place (I don't imagine the pre-season standings will carry over into actual play)?

The roster looks awful, but maybe with fewer fatcats and a bit more humph with players looking to make it rather than sitting on their retirement contracts, they'll be a better *team* than we'd expect.

Balej's game was always about speed and skill, so either he hasn't progressed or else he came in expecting to make the cut and lost some of that drive. Whatever happened, this isn't the same Balej that we all missed the minute he was traded. And it also appears that Kovalev isn't the tired, cynical Kovalev that was with the Rangers when we first traded for him either.
So far so good, and we still have guys like Hossa and Plekanec in the fold, as they were rumoured to be part of the short list of prospects offered up to the NYR at the time.

In NHL 2006 game they have Balej listed as a grinder. How funny is that.

now he's in the vancouver canucks system as the rangers got fedor fedorov for him. good job gainey, this guy must be a total stiff.
