Just got thru watching "that's Hockey" on TSN. Bob MacKenzie just finished saying that some teams are only gonna have 20 man rosters. 12 F 6 D 2 G...
What happens if during a game a player gets hurt and has to miss the rest of the game? Roll 3 lines? Double shift a player from another line? I can see alot of fatigue setting if for some players. If not during a game, then in the stretch drive for the payoffs.
23 on the roster gives you the flexibility to adjust your roster to the team you gonna play. The only thing 20 man roster does is keep you under the CAP.

Ottawa has a 21 man roster. That was brought up too. They wanted a 20 man roster, but they were afraid that they would lose that 21st man on waivers at the last minute and kept him. Even after telling him he was cut at first. Bob stated he might be traded soon than later to make the roster a 20 man team.

Only thing wrong with our roster size is we have too few 6'5" guys and too many 5'11" ones.

You can only dress 20 for a game anyway, so having 3 guys in the pressbox doesn't help you in that situation. Dags, Ivanans and Streit only cost us about $1.5 million, so I don't think we would gain much by spending that money on guys who are playing and having noone on hand in case of injuries.
